3. Remove the screws 1 and 2 , and then loosen the four screws that secure the heat sink to the systemboard in the following sequence:a. Partially remove screw 3 , fully remove screw 4 , and then fully remove screw 3 .b. Partially remove screw 5 , fully remove screw 6 , and then fully remove screw 5 .Note: Carefully remove the four screws 3 to 6 from the system board to avoid any possible damage tothe system board. The four screws cannot be removed from the heat sink.Figure45. Removing the heat sink4. Lift the failing heat sink off the system board.Notes:• You might have to gently twist the heat sink to free it from the microprocessor.• Do not touch the thermal grease while handling the heat sink.5. Position the new heat sink on the system board so that the four screws 3 to 6 align with thecorresponding mounting studs on the system board.6. Tighten the four screws 3 to 6 to secure the new heat sink in the following sequence. Do notover-tighten the screws.a. Partially tighten screw 3 , fully tighten screw 4 , and then fully tighten screw 3 .b. Partially tighten screw 5 , fully tighten screw 6 , and then fully tighten screw 5 .7.
