Espresso Machine Installation, GS/3Fill Water reservoir with Water. Remove the drain trayand slide the water reservoir until the water reservoir fillcover is accessable. Remove the cover and fill waterreservoir with fi ltered water. Replace the fi ll cover andslide the water reservoir to the operating position andreplace the drain tray. (See GS/3 Installation Guide foraddition instructions)Connect Espresso Machine to Power Supply. Connectthe espresso machine to a power supply that is ratedin accordance with the serial plate on the espressomachine.Filling the Boilers with Water. Once the espressomachine has been unpackaged, placed on a hardsurface, and the water reservoir full, it will be necessaryto fill the boilers with water. Complete the followingsteps to properly fi ll the boiler tanks:Steam Boiler. Turn the main switch to position “1”or ON, the automatic steam boiler level system willbe switched on, activating the auto-fill solenoid valveand the water pump. This will fill the steam boilerto a predetermined level and will shut off when full.NOTE: It may be necessary to re-fill the waterreservoir during this process. Check to see if the“Water Tank Empty” error message is present onthe display before continuing.Coffee Boiler. The water flows inside the coffee boilerdirectly when the water pump is activated. When theGS/3 is turned on the electronics will activate the waterpump to fill both boilers. Since the inflow of water willcompress the air in the boiler it will be necessary toremove or “bleed” the air from the coffee boiler. All airmust be removed in order to completely “saturate” thecoffee boiler/group assembly. To remove the air fromthe boiler (“bleed the groups”) remove the group coverfrom the top of the group head. Then loosen the bleedscrew (see picture) to allow air to escape until waterflows from below the screw head. It may be necessaryto activate the brew process by pressing button #5 (thecontinuous button) to force the air out of the group.Tighten the screw to stop the water from flowing. Overtightening can cause damage to the sealing washer andthe group cap. If this sealing washer is damaged replacewasher with one included in accessory kit. Once all airis removed from the coffee boiler, reinstall the groupcover. For more detailed instruction please refer theGS/3 Installation Guide. NOTE: It may be necessary tore-fill the water reservoir during this process. Checkto see if the “Water Tank Empty” error message ispresent on the display before continuing.Verify filling of Boilers. The installation is now completeand the espresso machine should be heating to theoperating temperatures.1.2.3.4.5.6.Waiting for the Espresso Machine to Heat to OperatingTemperature. During this time, it may happen that thepointer of the coffee boiler pressure gauge reaches ashigh as 12 bar. This may happen anytime that the heatingelement is in the on condition. If the pressure exceeds 12bar then it will be necessary to adjust the expansion valvein such a manner that the pressure never exceed 12 bar.In normal operating conditions, the coffee boiler pressuregauge can read anywhere from 0-12 bar. When brewing, the pressure should be set to approximately 9 bar. When the espresso machine is ready tooperate all lights on the keypads will light.NOTE: As the steam boiler reaches operatingtemperature you may hear air and steam escapingfrom the boiler. This is a normal sound. As thewater boils, air in the boiler is replaced by steamand exits through the vacuum breaker. As the boilerget closer to operating temperature the vacuumbreaker closes and the steam is no longer able toescape. This process allows the air in the steamboiler to escape and to be replaced by water vapor.7.5mm Hex KeyBleed ScrewFigure 3 - "Bleed the Group"Figure 4 - Key Pad buttonsFigure 5 - Key Pad buttons with lights onGS/3English6www.lamarzocco.comInstallationVersion 1.00
