16USING THE BLENDERPULSE ModeYour KitchenAid Blender offers PULSE( ) mode, which allows a “Pulse-at-any-Speed” feature.NOTE: PULSE ( ) mode will not workwith the CRUSH ICE ( ) feature.1. Before operating the Blender, make surethe pitcher (or culinary jar) assembly isproperly positioned on the Blender base.NOTE: If a gap exists between thelocking collar and the base, the pitcher(or culinary jar) might not be lockedinto the locking collar or the collar is notpositioned properly on the Blender base.See “Blender Assembly” for furtherinstructions.2. Put ingredients into pitcher (or culinaryjar), and firmly attach lid.3. Press PULSE ( ). The indicator lightabove the button will blink to indicatethat all five speeds are in the PULSE( ) mode.4. Select a speed button. Press and holdfor the desired length of time. Both thespeed button and PULSE ( ) modeindicators will stay lit when pulsing at theselected speed. When button isreleased, the blending will stop, butthe Blender will remain in PULSE ( )mode and the PULSE ( ) modeindicator will return to blinking. Topulse again or at another speed, simplypress and hold the button of the desiredspeed.5. To turn off the PULSE ( ) modefeature, press “O”. The Blender is nowready for continuous operation.6. Before removing the pitcher (or culinaryjar) assembly, unplug the power cord.Ingredient CupThe 60 mL ingredient cup canbe used to measure and addingredients. Remove cup andadd ingredients at STIR ( ), CHOP ( )or MIX ( ), speeds. When operating athigher speeds, with a full pitcher or withhot contents, stop the Blender and thenadd ingredients.IMPORTANT: If blending hot foods orliquids, remove the centre ingredientcup. Operate only on STIR ( ) speed.Soft Start Blending FeatureThe Soft Start blending feature automaticallystarts the Blender at a lower speed todraw ingredients into the blades, thenquickly increases to the selected speedfor optimal performance.NOTE: The Soft Start blending featureonly works when a speed is selected fromthe “O” (OFF) mode and does not workwith the PULSE ( ) mode or CRUSH ICE( ) features.
