12Demodulating AM, FM, ΦM, FM Stereo/RDS SignalsDemodulating an FM SignalDemodulating an FM SignalThis section demonstrates how to demodulate and listen to an FM signal. You cantune to an FM signal and view the results of the detector output displayed in thequad-view window or single-window format.Alternatively, the demodulated signal is also available as an audio output (to thespeaker or headphone jack) and as video output (on the rear panel).The signal under test is a signal at 300 MHz with FM deviation of 10 kHz and FMrate of 1 kHz. Note that if you are using a broadcast FM signal in the United States,for example, the FM channels are broadcasting between 87.7 MHz and 107.7 MHz.Step Action Notes1 Select Analog Demodmode.Press Mode, Analog Demod.2 Preset the mode. Press Mode Preset.3 Select FM measurement. Press Meas, FM.4 Set the center frequency tothe center of the FM signal.Press FREQ Channel, CenterFreq, 300, MHz.5 Adjust the sweep time andview the measurementresult as in the figure below.Press Sweep, Demod WfmSweep Time, 2, ms.6 Listen to the demodulatedFM signal.Press Meas Setup, Demod toSpeaker.You may need to adjust thevolume as necessary.
