TROUBLESHOOTINGSymptom Likely Cause What To DoNo sound. Speaker not connected toactive AC power.Verify that speaker is connectedand that the circuit is on. Switch onpower and verify that illuminated logo is on.• Re-seat the power cable at both ends.• Substitute a known-good power cable.Speaker power cable is faultyor improperly connected.No sound, speaker is connectedto working AC power but won’tcome on.Blown fuse. • Replace the fuse with the specified value.• Take your speaker to a competent servicer.Signal source (mixer,instrument, etc.) isnot sending.No sound, speaker comes on. Faulty cables and connections • Check VU meters on the source mixer.• Verify that the CD/MP3 is playing.• Use headphones to verify that theinstrument is actually sending an audio signal.Faulty cables and connections • Disconnect and re-seat signal cables.• Replace suspected cable with aknown-good cable.No sound with microphoneconnected directly to the MIC input.Microphone requiresphantom power The PRX500 speakers do not supply phantompower. Switch to a dynamic microphone, use abattery in the microphone (if possible), use anexternal phantom power supply.Signal Sounds distorted and veryloud, OVERLOAD light is lit most ofthe time.Excessive input signal, tryingto exceed the capabilities ofthe speakers• Reduce the output level of the source.• Turn down the level controls on the speaker.Signal sounds distorted even atmoderate volumes, OVERLOADlight is not lit.Mixer or other sourceis overdrivenReview the Owner’s Manual for your systemsetup and adjust controls as needed.• Input sensitivity (gain)31
