Be sure switch is offwhen plugging in.• Don’t Force Appliance – It will do the job better andwith less likelihood of a risk of injury at the rate forwhich it was designed.• Don’t Overreach – Keep proper footing and balanceat all times.• Stay Alert – Watch what you are doing. Use commonsense. Do not operate appliance when you are tired.• Store Idle Appliances Indoors – When not in use,appliances should be stored indoors in dry, and highor locked-up place – out of reach of children.• Maintain Appliance With Care – Keep cutting edgesharp and clean for best performance and to reducethe risk of injury. Follow instructions for lubricatingand changing accessories. Keep handles dry, clean,and free from oil and grease.• Check Damaged Parts – Before further use of theappliance, a guard or other part that is damagedshould be carefully checked to determine that it willoperate properly and perform its intended function.Check for alignment of moving parts, binding ofmoving parts, breakage of parts, mounting, and anyother condition that may affect its operation. A guardor other part that is damaged should be properlyrepaired or replaced by an authorized service centerunless indicated elsewhere in this manual.Safety instructions for operationWARNING: Read the warning instructionsthat follow before you use the product.• Make sure to prevent unintentional starting whenassembling, checking and/or performingmaintenance. If you have a gasoline operatedproduct, disconnect the spark plug cap from thespark plug. If you have a battery operated product,remove the battery.• At times grass and stones can become caught in thetines. Always stop the engine/motor when cleaning.• Watch out for thrown objects. Always wear eyeprotection. Never bend over the brush drum. Stones,rubbish, etc. can be thrown up into the eyes causingblindness or serious injury.• The gear can get hot during use and may remain sofor a while afterwards. You could get burnt if youtouch it.• Hold the product securely when starting.• Although the brush drums do not have the sameforce as lawn mower blades, for example, youshould avoid working with materials that can causepersonal injury or damage to property if thrown out.• Do not use the product unless you are able to call forhelp in the event of an accident.• Only use the product for the purpose it was intendedfor.• Never use the product if you are tired, if you havedrunk alcohol, or if you are taking medication thatcould affect your vision, your judgement or your co-ordination.• Never use the product in extreme weather conditionssuch as severe cold, very hot and/or humid climates.• Never use a product that is faulty. Carry out thesafety checks, maintenance and service instructionsdescribed in this manual. Some maintenance andservice measures must be carried out by trained andqualified specialists. See instructions under theMaintenance heading.• Never allow children to use the product.• Never allow anyone else to use the product withoutfirst ensuring that they have read and understood thecontents of the operator’s manual.• Keep unauthorized persons at a distance. Children,animals, onlookers and helpers should be keptoutside the safety zone of 15 m while you work. Stopthe product immediately if anyone approaches.• If you encounter a situation where you are uncertainhow to proceed you should ask an expert.
