2. If the saw chain lubrication is correct, you see a clearline of oil on the surface after 1 minute. (Fig. 131)3. If the saw chain lubrication does not operatecorrectly, do a check of the guide bar. Refer toTo doa check of the guide bar on page 27 forinstructions. Speak to your servicing dealer if themaintenance steps does not help.To do a check of the spur sprocketThe clutch drum has a spur sprocket that is welded onthe clutch drum.(Fig. 132)• Regularly do a visual check of the degree of wear onthe spur sprocket. Replace the clutch drum with thespur sprocket if there is too much wear.To lubricate the needle bearing1. Pull the front hand guard rearward to disengage thechain brake.2. Loosen the bar nuts and remove the clutch cover.Note: Some models have only one bar nut.3. Put the product on a stable surface with the clutchdrum up.4. Lubricate the needle bearing with a grease gun. Useengine oil or a bearing grease of high quality. (Fig.133)To examine the cutting equipment1. Make sure that there are no cracks in rivets and linksand that no rivets are loose. Replace if it isnecessary. (Fig. 134)2. Make sure that the saw chain is easy to bend.Replace the saw chain if it is rigid.3. Compare the saw chain with a new saw chain toexamine if the rivets and links are worn.4. Replace the saw chain when the longest part of thecutting tooth is less than 4 mm/0.16 in. Also replacethe saw chain if there are cracks on the cutters. (Fig.135)To do a check of the guide bar1. Make sure that the oil channel is not blocked. Cleanif it is necessary. (Fig. 136)2. Examine if there are burrs on the edges of the guidebar. Remove the burrs using a file. (Fig. 137)3. Clean the groove in the guide bar. (Fig. 138)4. Examine the groove in the guide bar for wear.Replace the guide bar if it is necessary. (Fig. 139)5. Examine if the guide bar tip is rough or very worn.(Fig. 140)6. Make sure that the bar tip sprocket turns freely andthat the lubricating hole in the bar tip sprocket is notblocked. Clean and lubricate if it is necessary. (Fig.141)7. Turn the guide bar daily to extend its life cycle. (Fig.142)To do maintenance on the fuel tankand the chain oil tank• Drain and clean the fuel tank and the chain oil tankregularly.• Replace the fuel filter yearly or more frequently ifnecessary.CAUTION: Contamination in the tankscauses malfunction.Air cleaning systemAirInjection™ is a centrifugal air cleaning system thatremoves dust and dirt before the particles are caught bythe air filter. AirInjection™ extends the life of the air filterand the engine.(Fig. 143)To clean the cooling systemThe cooling system keeps the engine temperaturedown. The cooling system includes the air intake on thestarter and the air guide plate, the pawls on the flywheel, the cooling fins on the cylinder, the cooling channel andthe cylinder cover.1. Clean the cooling system with a brush weekly ormore frequently if it is necessary.2.
