English – 19Lubricating the fl exible drive axleAdjusting the edgerʻs cutting depthMAINTENANCEInside the edgerʻs drive shaftis a flexible drive axle. Theflexible drive axle should beregularly lubricated after 30hours of operation. Loosenthe two screws on the anglegear and remove it. Theflexible drive axle is easilyremoved from the shaft bytaking a firm grip on the axleend. Lubricate the flexibledrive axle over its entirelength and reinsert it in theshaft. Turn the axle whileinserting it so that it correctlyengages in the clutch. Re-place the angle gear on thedrive axle shaft and tightenthe two screws.The cutting depth should beadjusted before starting work.• Loosen the locking handle(A) and rotate the guard bymoving the locking handlebackwards or forwards. If thelocking handle is moved for-wards (from the machine) thecutting depth is increased. Ifthe locking handle is movedbackwards (towards themachine) the cutting depth isreduced.• Adjust the cutting depth.• Lock the lockinghandle.WARNING!Always bear the machine on the right sideof the body. Always wear protective glasses,long trousers and heavy-duty shoes when us-ing the machine. Observe your surroundings,ensure people and animals do not come inthe immediate vicinity or can be hit by thrownobjects. Apply full throttle before the bladestarts to work on the soil.!Air fi lterThe air filter should be cleanedregularly removing dust anddirt to avoid:• carburetor malfunction• starting problems• reduced engine power• unnecessary wear to engineparts• abnormal fuel consumptionClean the filter after every 25hours or more regularly if oper-ating conditions are exception-ally dusty.Cleaning the air fi lterAngle gearThe angle gear is filled with asufficient quantity of grease atthe factory. However, beforeusing the machine you shouldcheck that the angle gear isfilled to 3/4 with grease. UseHUSQVARNA special grease.Normally, the grease does notneed to be changed exceptwhen repairs are carried out.Dismantle the air filter cover and remove the air filter. Wash inclean, warm soapy water. Ensure that the filter is dry beforerefitting. An air filter used for a long period of time can neverbe cleaned completely. Therefore it is necessary to replace thefilter from time to time with a new filter. A damaged air filter mustalways be replaced.If the machine is used in dusty conditions the air fi ltershould be soaked in oil, see the section on “Oiling the airfi lter“.Oiling the air filterAlways use HUSQVARNAfilter oil, order no. 503 4773-01. The filter oil containsa solvent to make it spreadevenly through the filter.You should therefore avoidskin contact. Put the filter ina plastic bag and the pourthe filter oil over it. Kneadthe plastic bag to distributethe oil. Squeeze the excessoil out of the filter inside theplastic bag and pour off theexcess before fitting the filteron the machine. Never usecommon engine oil. Thiswould drain through the filterquite quickly and collect in thebottom.
