English – 7GENERAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONSMachine′s safety equipmentThis section describes the machine′s safety equipment, itspurpose, and how checks and maintenance should be carriedout to ensure that it operates correctly. See the ”What iswhat?” section to locate where this equipment is positionedon your machine.The life span of the machine can be reduced and the risk ofaccidents can increase if machine maintenance is not carriedout correctly and if service and/or repairs are not carried outprofessionally. If you need further information please contactyour nearest service workshop.Throttle lockThe throttle lock is designed to prevent accidental operationof the throttle control. When you press the lock (A) (i.e. whenyou grasp the handle) it releases the throttle control (B).When you release the handle the throttle control and thethrottle lock both move back to their original positions. Thismovement is controlled by two independent return springs.This arrangement means that the throttle control isautomatically locked at the idle setting.Make sure the throttle control is locked at the idle settingwhen the throttle lock is released.Press the throttle lock and make sure it returns to its originalposition when you release it.Check that the throttle control and throttle lock move freelyand that the return springs work properly.See instructions under the heading Start. Start the machineand apply full throttle. Release the throttle and check that thecutting attachment stops and remains at a standstill. If thecutting attachment rotates with the throttle in the idle positionthen the carburettor idle setting must be checked. Seeinstructions under the heading Maintenance.Stop switchUse the stop switch to switch off the engine.Start the engine and make sure the engine stops when youmove the stop switch to the stop setting.Cutting attachment guardThis guard is intended to prevent loose objects from beingthrown towards the operator. The guard also protects theoperator from accidental contact with the cutting attachment.Check that the guard is undamaged and not cracked. Replacethe guard if it has been exposed to impact or is cracked.Always use the recommended guard for the cuttingattachment you are using. See chapter on Technical data.IMPORTANT!All servicing and repair work on the machine requiresspecial training. This is especially true of the machine′ssafety equipment. If your machine fails any of the checksdescribed below you must contact your service agent.When you buy any of our products we guarantee theavailability of professional repairs and service. If the retailerwho sells your machine is not a servicing dealer, ask him forthe address of your nearest service agent.! WARNING! Never use a machine with faultysafety equipment. The machine’s safetyequipment must be checked and maintainedas described in this section. If your machinefails any of these checks contact yourservice agent to get it repaired.! WARNING! Never use a cutting attachmentwithout an approved guard. See the chapteron Technical data. If an incorrect or faultyguard is fitted this can cause seriouspersonal injury.
