3. Release the throttle trigger lockout and make surethat the throttle trigger is locked at idle speedposition.4. Start the engine and apply full throttle.5. Release the throttle trigger and make sure that theblades stop fully.WARNING: If the blades movewhen the throttle trigger is in the idlespeed position, adjust the idle speed.Refer toTo adjust the idle speed onpage 11.To do a check of the stop switch1. Start the engine.2. Push the stop switch to the stop position and makesure that the engine stops.WARNING: The stop switchautomatically goes back to start position. Toprevent accidental start, remove the sparkplug cap from the spark plug when youassemble or do maintenance on the product.To do a check of the hand guardThe hand guard prevents injuries from the blades.1. Stop the engine.2. Make sure that the hand guard is attached correctly.3. Examine the hand guard for damages.To do a check of the vibration damping systemThe vibration damping system decreases vibration in thehandles. The vibration damping units operate as aseparation between the product body and the handleunit.1. Do a visual check for deformation and damage.2. Make sure that the vibration damping units arecorrectly attached.To do a check of the mufflerWARNING: Do not operate the productwithout a muffler or a defective muffler. Adefective muffler can increase the noiselevel and the risk of fire. Do not use theproduct without, or with a broken, sparkarrester screen. The spark arrester screenmust be replaced if it is damaged.WARNING: The mufflers become veryhot during and after operation, also at idlespeed.CAUTION: If the spark arrester screenis frequently blocked it can be a sign thatperformance of the catalytic converter isdecreased. Turn to your servicing dealer toexamine the muffler. A blocked sparkarrester screen will cause overheating andresult in damage to the cylinder and piston.WARNING: The inner surfaces of themuffler contain chemicals that can causecancer. Be careful not to touch theseelements if the muffler is damaged.The muffler keeps the noise levels to a minimum andpoints the exhaust fumes away from the operator. Amuffler with a catalytic converter decrease harmfulexhaust gases.1. Stop the engine.2. Do a visual check for damage and deformation.3.
