WORKING TECHNIQUESEnglish – 15General working instructionsBasic safety rulesWear personal protective equipment. See instructionsunder the heading ”Personal protective equipment”.1 Look around you:• To ensure that people, animals or other things cannotaffect your control of the machine.• To ensure that people, animals, etc., do not come intocontact with the cutting attachment or loose objectsthat are thrown out by the cutting attachment.• CAUTION! Do not use the machine unless you areable to call for help in the event of an accident. Ensurethat no-one comes closer than 15 m while you areworking.2 Inspect the working area. Remove all loose objects,such as stones, broken glass, nails, steel wire, string,etc. that could be thrown out or become wrappedaround the cutting attachment.3 Never use the machine in bad weather, for instance infog, in rain, strong winds, intense cold, etc. Working inbad weather is tiring and can lead to dangerousconditions, e.g. slippery surfaces.Safety instructions while working• Make sure you can move and stand safely. Check thearea around you for possible obstacles (roots, rocks,branches, ditches, etc.) in case you have to movesuddenly. Take great care when working on slopingground. (Figure 17)• Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance atall times.• Always be sure of the footing on slopes and to walk,never run.• Always hold the machine with both hands. Hold themachine on the right side of your body. (Figure 18)Don’t force the machine. It will do the job better andwith less likelihood of a risk of injury at the rate forwhich it was designed.• Keep all parts of your body away from the rotatingcutting attachment. Keep the cutting attachmentbelow waist level.• Turn off the machine when it has to be moved. Alwaysremove the battery when passing the machine toanother person.• Never put the machine down without turning it off firstand always remove the battery.• If any foreign object is hit or if vibrations occur stop themachine immediately. Remove the battery from themachine and check that the machine is not damaged.• If any unwanted vibrations occur, tap out new line togive the line the correct length and the vibrationsshould stop.• Release the power trigger after each workingoperation to save battery power.• Make sure that ventilation openings on the trimmerhousing are kept clear of gras and debris.IMPORTANT!This section takes up the basic safety precautions forworking with a lawn trimmer.If you encounter a situation where you are uncertainhow to proceed you should ask an expert. Contact yourdealer or your service workshop.Avoid all usage which you consider to be beyond yourcapability.! WARNING! The machine can causeserious personal injury. Read the safetyinstructions carefully. Learn how to usethe machine.! WARNING! Always disconnect thebattery before any maintenace on themachine.! WARNING! Neither the operator of themachine nor anyone else may attempt toremove the cut material while the motoris running or the cutting attachment isrotating, as this can result in seriousinjury.Turn off the machine and remove thebattery before removing materials thatare wound around the trimmer head asotherwise there is risk of injury. Thebevel gear can get hot during use andmay remain so for a while afterwards. Youcould get burnt if you touch it.! WARNING! Watch out for thrown objects.Always wear approved eye protection.Never lean over the cutting attachmentguard. Stones, rubbish, etc. can bethrown up into the eyes causingblindness or serious injury.Keep unauthorized persons at adistance. Children, animals, onlookersand helpers should be kept outside thesafety zone of 15 m. (50 ft.) Stop themachine immediately if anyoneapproaches. Never swing the machinearound without first checking behind youto make sure no-one is within the safetyzone. |
