This instruction manual is an integral part of theproduct, and it supplies information for its correct safe use and maintenance.If you do not understand any of the instructions, please contact Harken’sauthorized dealer. Harken shall not be liable for damages, injuries, ordeath caused by usage not covered in this manual or any non‑compliant orunsafe actions.This manual is intended for specialized personnel or expert users.Safety InformationGeneral adviceProgress capture device for ascending rope, and short distancerope descents.Intended use• As a type B rope adjustmentdevice compliant to the EuropeanStandard EN 12841:2006 (fullyrated and locking chest ascender)up to a maximum rated load of140 kg, that is a manually operateddevice which, when attached toa working line, locks under loadin one direction and slides freelyin the opposite direction, to beused on rope access systems andrelated activities.• This product can be used forhauling systems: this use is to beconsidered outside the scopes ofthe Regulation 2016/425.• This product should only beused by one person at a time;this equipment should be apersonal issue item.• This product is intended to preventthe risk of falls from a height duringacceptable activities.• As a rope clamp compliant to theEuropean Standard EN 567:2013to be used on mountaineeringand related activities, that isa mechanical device which, ifattached to a rope or an accessorycord of appropriate diameter,will clamp under load in onedirection and move freely in theopposite direction.Improper use• Do not use with wire rope.• Do not use as a fall arrest device.• Do not use this product outsideof its limitations, or for any otherpurpose than that for which it isintended.• Do not alter, tamper, or addto this equipment without themanufacturer’s prior writtenconsent. Any repair shall only becarried out in accordance with themanufacturer’s procedures.• Do not use this rope clamp inweather or environmental extremes.Personal protective equipment• Harness, gloves, and helmetthat meet national and/or local requirements arerecommended.• Follow your national and/orlocal regulatory requirementsfor Personal ProtectiveEquipment (PPE).Risks• This equipment shall only be usedby a person trained and competentin its safe use.• Activities involving the use of theNinja MultiAscend are inherentlydangerous. You are responsible foryour own actions and decisions.• Read and understand allinstructions before use• Get specific training on theNinja MultiAscend’s proper use.• Become acquainted withMultiAscend’s capabilitiesand limitations.• Understand and accept the risksinvolved.• Users must be medically fit forall activities the MultiAscend isinvolved in. Users must be capableof controlling their own safety in anyemergency situation.• Failure to heed any of thesewarnings could result in severeinjury or death.• Overloading or dynamic load on theNinja MultiAscend may damage theanchor rope.• Verify that the product markings arelegible. Fig 4WARNINGSDo not use as a fall arrest device.Anchor ropes should be attached to the anchor above the user.Slack between the anchor and the user should be avoided.Any loading above the published recommendations or dynamicloading on the MultiAscend may damage both the rope and thedevice. Stay within the limitations of the specifications andlengths documented.Only competent personnel trained to use this equipment safelymay use it.Be aware of any dangers that may occur due to the use ofcombined items, in which the safe function of any one item isaffected by, or interferes with, the safe function of another.Do not trail or loop this product over sharp edges. Trailing orlooping safety equipment in such a way may result in deathor injuries.Do not make any alteration or additions to the equipmentwithout Harken’s prior written consent. For example, in the Julian calendar, the number 234represents August 22.UseConnection to the harness: Connect the bottom saddle bracket toan approved, rated, full‑strength point on the harness’ ventral (frontal)attachment Fig 15.
