If a device fails to receive configuration BPDUs within the set period of time, anew spanning tree calculation process is triggered due to timeout.HP recommends not setting the hello time with this command. Instead, you can specify thenetwork diameter of the switched network by using the stp bridge-diameter command and let thespanning tree protocols automatically calculate the optimal settings for the hello timer.
