However, to ensure safe use of thisnotebook, it is important that the safety instructions marked on the notebookand in the documentation are followed.Setting up your system■ Read and follow all instructions marked on the notebook and in thedocumentation before you operate your notebook. Retain all safety andoperating instructions for future use.■ Do not use this notebook near water or a heat source such as a radiator.■ Set up the notebook on a stable work surface.■ The notebook should be operated only from the type of power sourceindicated on the rating label.■ If your notebook has a voltage selector switch, make sure that the switchis in the proper position for your area. The voltage selector switch is setat the factory to the correct voltage.■ Openings in the notebook case are provided for ventilation. Do not blockor cover these openings. Make sure you provide adequate space, at least6 inches (15 cm), around the notebook for ventilation when you set upyour work area. Never insert objects of any kind into the notebookventilation openings.■ Some notebook are equipped with a three-wire power cord to make surethat the notebook is properly grounded when in use. The plug on this cordwill fit only into a grounding-type outlet. This is a safety feature. If you areunable to insert the plug into an outlet, contact an electrician to installthe appropriate outlet.■ If you use an extension cord with this notebook, make sure that the totalampere rating on the products plugged into the extension cord does notexceed the extension cord ampere rating.■ If your notebook is fitted with a TV Tuner, cable, or satellite receiver card,make sure that the antenna or cable system is electrically grounded toprovide some protection against voltage surges and buildup of staticcharges.Care during use■ Do not walk on the power cord or allow anything to rest on it.■ Do not spill anything on the notebook. The best way to avoid spills is toavoid eating and drinking near your notebook.■ Some notebooks have a replaceable CMOS battery on the system board.There is a danger of explosion if the CMOS battery is replaced incorrectly.Replace the battery with the same or equivalent type recommended bythe manufacturer. Dispose of batteries according to the manufacturer’sinstructions.■ When the notebook is turned off, a small amount of electrical current stillflows through the notebook. To avoid electrical shock, always unplug allpower cables and modem cables from the wall outlets before cleaning thenotebook.
