86 Maintaining and Troubleshooting the Gateway ALR 8200 ServerPeripheral/adapter problemsA SCSI device is not recognized by the system.The diskette drive is not recognized by the system.Probable Cause SolutionThe device needs tobe added as newhardware.From the Control Panel window (Start |Settings | Control Panel), double-click Add NewHardware. Follow the directions for adding thedevice. If you are not experienced with thisprocedure, call Technical Support.The SCSI ID may beinvalid.Assign an available SCSI ID to the device.The SCSI chain is notterminated.Make certain the last device on the SCSI chainis terminated.The device cables arenot installed correctly.Open the system and check all cables betweenthe controller and the device.Probable Cause SolutionThe diskette drive maybe configuredincorrectly.Restart your computer, and then press F1 toenter the setup program. From the Main |Floppy Options menu, ensure that the diskettedrive settings are correct.The drive cables arenot connectedproperly.Open the system and check all cablesconnected to the controller card.The drive controller isnot seated properly.Open the system and reseat the drivecontroller.
