Your devicetransfers data from Smartphone Link using Bluetooth wirelesstechnology. Live information is available through free andsubscription-based plans from Garmin Live Services (GarminLive Services, page 15).Saved locations and recently found locations are synchronizedwith your phone each time your device connects to SmartphoneLink.Downloading Smartphone LinkSmartphone Link is available for some smartphones. Go towww.garmin.com/smartphonelink or see the application store foryour phone for compatibility and availability information.Download Smartphone Link from the application store onyour supported phone.See your phone owner's manual for information ondownloading and installing applications.Sending a Location from Your Phone to Your DeviceSmartphone Link is registered as a navigation application onyour phone.1 From your phone, select the button to start navigating to alocation (see the owner's manual for your phone).2 From the application menu, select Smartphone Link.The next time you connect your device to your phone, thelocation is transferred to the recently found items on yourdevice.Garmin Live ServicesBefore you can use Garmin Live Services, your device must beconnected to a supported phone running Smartphone Link(Pairing Your Phone and Headset, page 13).Connecting to Smartphone Link provides access to Garmin LiveServices. Garmin Live Services provides free and subscription-based plans to view live data on your device, such as trafficconditions and weather.Some services, like weather, are available as separate apps onyour device. Other services, like traffic, enhance the existingnavigation features on your device. Features that require accessto Garmin Live Services display the Smartphone Link symboland appear only when the device is connected to SmartphoneLink.Subscribing to Garmin Live ServicesBefore you can subscribe to Garmin Live Services, you mustinstall the Smartphone Link app on your phone.1 Start the Smartphone Link app on your phone (Pairing YourPhone and Headset, page 13).2 Select My Account.A list of services and subscription prices appears.3 Select a service.4 Select the price.5 Select Subscribe.6 Follow the on-screen instructions.Smart NotificationsWhile your device is connected to the Smartphone Link app, youcan view notifications from your smartphone on your zūmodevice, such as text messages, incoming calls, and calendarappointments.NOTE: You may need to wait a few minutes to receivenotifications on your navigation device after it connects to theSmartphone Link app. appears colored in the Bluetoothsettings when smart notifications are connected and active(Bluetooth Feature Status Icons, page 14).Receiving NotificationsNOTICEDo not read or reply to notifications while driving.Before your zūmo device can receive notifications, you mustconnect it to your smartphone and to the Smartphone Link app.From most pages, a popup appears when the device receives anotification from your smartphone. If the device is moving, youmust verify you are a passenger and not the driver before youcan view notifications.NOTE: If you are viewing the map, notifications appear in a maptool.• To ignore a notification, select OK.The popup closes, but the notification remains active on yourphone.• To view a notification, select View.• To listen to the notification, select View > Play.The device reads the notification using text-to-speechtechnology.
