A momentarypress of the power button (after the unit is powered on) will display a window showingthe current backlight setting. From this window the backlight setting can be adjustedwith the on screen controls, or a second momentary press of the POWER Buttonchanges the backlight level to full bright (10).The first time the unit is turned on, the receiver must collect satellite data andestablish its present location. To ensure proper initialization, the aera 795/796 isshipped from the factory in AutoLocate mode, which allows the receiver to “find itself”anywhere in the world.During initialization, current database information is displayed. Database informationincludes valid operating dates, cycle number, and database type.
