19 Que for Palm OS - Applications GuideM AP DATA INSTALLATIONUsing Map Install to Download Map DataMap Install allows you to download detailed mapping datato the Palm OS handheld or a Secure Digital Card. Whendetailed maps are installed, Que applications, like QueFind, canprovide a broader range of information about the geographicarea in which you are navigating. If you do not install detailedmapping data, you will only have access to the informationcontained in your Que Application’s basemap.To download maps:1. You must have first installed the Detailed Map DataDisks on your PC. Refer to theQue for Palm OSSetup Guide.2. From your PC Desktop click the Map Install icon toopen the Map Install application.3. Read the information on the ‘Welcome’ window. Itwill help to determine your next step. For certainmaps (like those provided with your new unit) youmust use an Unlock Code to open the map data.You may have already entered the Unlock Codeduring the setup process and you can move to thenext InstallWizard page.If not, use the sheet of paper packaged withyour GPS unit that contains the code. Click theappropriate Unlock Code button to open the dialogbox and follow instructions on each page thatfollows.4. When finished with the UnlockWizard a “SelectDevice” window appears. Select the desired devicefor receiving downloaded map data (Que with yourPalm OS device “username” attached) and the mapdata storage location from the drop down list, thenpress ‘Next’ to move to the map selection window.5. In the map selection window, select a map regionto download to your unit. Use the map selectiontool to click on the map areas that you want.6. Click Next to move to the ‘Finish’ window.A “Sending to iQue” window displays andautomatically closes when the map data has beensent.The next time you perform a HotSync® operation, the map datawill be moved to the Mobile Device Storage or Secure DigitalCard.Using MapSource® to Download Map DataIf you own or intend to purchase additional Garmin MapSourceproducts (other than those provided with your Palm OShandheld), you may need an unlock code to install someof these additional MapSource products. Follow unlockinstructions provided in the Garmin Que for Palm OS SetupGuide.The MapSource operating software (version 5.4 and above)can be used to download maps to the PDA internal storage or aSecure Digital Card. When using the “Save To Device” featureon MapSource download maps, select the ‘Que’ option todisplay the ‘Save To Que’ dialog window. In the ‘Que Settings’portion of this window, select a Location of either ‘InternalStorage’ or ‘Secure Digital (SD) Card’ and then click Send.Note: The next time you perform a HotSync® operation themap data from either type of download is transferred to thePalm OS handheld.When downloading maps, be certain to check the amount offree space available on the card to be certain there is sufficientspace for the new maps.
