Using Bluetooth wireless technology, your device can connect toyour mobile phone to become a hands-free device (Liveservices, traffic and smartphone features, page 11). Whileconnected, you can place or receive calls using your device.Placing a callDialling a number1 Select Apps > Phone > Dial.2 Enter the number.3 Select Dial.Calling a contact in your phone bookYour phone book is loaded from your phone to the device eachtime your phone and the device connect. It may take a fewminutes for the phone book to be available. Some phones donot support this feature.1 Select Apps > Phone > Phone Book.2 Select a contact.3 Select Call.Calling a location1 Select Apps > Phone > Browse Categories.2 Select a point of interest.3 Select Call.Receiving a callWhen you receive a call, select Answer or Ignore.Using the call historyYour call history is loaded from your phone to the device eachtime your phone and the device connect. It may take a fewminutes for the call history to be available. Some phones do notsupport this feature.1 Select Apps > Phone > Call History.2 Select a category.A list of calls appears, with the most recent calls at the top.3 Select a call.Using in-call optionsWhile on a call, you can select in-call options from the map.• To transfer audio to your phone, select .TIP: you can use this feature if you want to turn off yourdevice and remain on the call or if you need privacy.• To use the dial pad, select .TIP: you can use this feature to use automated systems,such as voice mail.• To mute the microphone, select .• To hang up, select .Saving a home phone numberTIP: after you save a home number, you can edit the homenumber by editing “Home” in your list of favourite locations(Editing a favourite location, page 6).1 Select Apps > Phone > > Set Home Number.2 Enter your phone number.3 Select Done.Calling homeBefore you can call home, you must enter a phone number foryour home location.Select Apps > Phone > Call Home.Disconnecting a Bluetooth deviceYou can temporarily disconnect a Bluetooth device withoutdeleting it from the paired devices list. The Bluetooth device canconnect to your Garmin DriveSmart device automatically in thefuture.1 Select Settings > Wireless Networks.2 Select the device to disconnect.3 Clear the tick box next to the name of your paired device.Deleting a paired phoneYou can delete a paired phone to prevent it from automaticallyconnecting to your device in the future.1 Select Settings > Wireless Networks.2 Select the phone, then select Unpair device.TrafficNOTICEGarmin is not responsible for the accuracy or timeliness of thetraffic information.Your device can provide information about traffic on the roadahead or on your route. You can set your device to avoid trafficwhen calculating routes, and to find a new route to yourdestination if a large traffic delay occurs on your active route(Traffic Settings, page 17). The traffic map allows you tobrowse the map for traffic delays in your area.To provide traffic information, your device must be receivingtraffic data.• Product models ending with MT can receive traffic data froman over-the-air broadcast signal using the built-in trafficreceiver and the included vehicle power cable (Receivingtraffic data using a traffic receiver, page 13).• All product models can receive subscription-free traffic datausing the Garmin Drive app (Receiving traffic data using yoursmartphone, page 13).Traffic data is not available in all areas. For information abouttraffic coverage areas, go to garmin.com/traffic.Receiving traffic data using yoursmartphoneYour device can receive subscription-free traffic data whileconnected to a smartphone running the Garmin Drive app.1 Connect your device to the Garmin Drive app (Live services,traffic and smartphone features, page 11).2 On your Garmin DriveSmart device, select Settings > Trafficand verify the Traffic check box is selected.Receiving traffic data using a traffic receiverNOTICEHeated (metallised) windscreens could degrade theperformance of the traffic receiver.A traffic receiver receives traffic data from an over-the-airbroadcast signal, where available. To receive over-the-air trafficdata, the device must be connected to vehicle power using atraffic-compatible power cable. A traffic receiver is included withsome product models (Traffic, page 13). .Traffic data is not available in all areas. For information abouttraffic coverage areas, go to garmin.com/traffic.Connect the device to vehicle power using the traffic-compatible power cable (Mounting and powering the GarminDriveSmart device in your vehicle, page 1).If your product model includes traffic data, the vehicle powercable included with your device is traffic-compatible.When you are within a traffic coverage area, your device candisplay traffic information and help you avoid traffic delays.Traffic 13
