37GPS Information PageReference‘Poor Satellite Reception’ MenuIf no satellites are received for several minutes (or an insufficient number of satellites are receivedto determine a position fix) a message will appear, prompting you to update your approximate locationor turn off the GPS for indoor use. Updating your approximate location will ensure the Navigator issearching for the correct satellites, and is useful if you have traveled over 500 miles with the unit turnedoff. If the unit has been stored without batteries and the displayed date is incorrect, the Navigator willnot know the current positions of the GPS satellites. Selecting ‘Stored w/o Batteries’ will tell the unitto search for any satellites that it can find. The ‘Poor Satellite Reception’ prompt may appear when you first use your Navigator. The promptmay also appear during normal use if the antenna is shaded or when the unit is used indoors.AccuracyThe GPS Information Page indicates the accuracy of the position fix. See Appendix E for theNavigator performance specifications which include accuracy. The ‘Poor Satellite Reception’ Menu gives you severaloptions when an insufficient number of satellites arereceived to determine a position fix.The sun and moon icons on the satellite skyview arefor reference (notice that the icons are grayed if thesun/moon is below the horizon). You can see the sunriseand sunset times for your current location and date onthe Time Setup Page.
