For the first self-clean cycle, we recommendventing your kitchen with an open window orusing a ventilation fan or hood.Remove the racks, any broiler pan, broilergrid, all cookware and any aluminum foil fromthe oven.The oven racks can be self-cleaned,but they will darken, lose their lusterand become hard to slide.Do not use commercial oven cleaners or ovenprotectors in or near the self-cleaning oven.A combination of any of these products plusthe high clean cycle temperatures maydamage the porcelain finish of the oven.Soil on the front frame of the range andoutside the gasket on the door will needto be cleaned by hand. Clean these areaswith hot water, soap-filled scouring padsor cleansers such as Soft Scrub®. Rinsewell with clean water and dry.Do not clean the gasket. The fiberglassmaterial of the oven door gasket cannotwithstand abrasion. It is essential for thegasket to remain intact. If you notice itbecoming worn or frayed, replace it.Wipe up any heavy spillovers on the ovenbottom.Make sure the oven light bulb cover is inplace and the oven light is off.CAUTION: The grates anddrip pans (if so equipped) should neverbe cleaned in the self-cleaning oven.Do not use commercial oven cleaners oroven protectors in or near the self-cleaningoven. Forcing the handle will damage the door lock mechanism.The oven door must be closed and all controls set correctly for the cycle to work properly.Using the self-cleaning oven.Before a Clean CycleWipe up heavy soil on the oven bottom.How to Set the Oven for CleaningFollow the directions in the Before a CleanCycle section.Latch the door.NOTE: Never force the latch. If the ovenis too hot, you will not be able to slidethe latch. Allow the oven to cool.Touch the Self Clean pad.Touch the + or – pads until the desiredClean Time is displayed.The Clean Time is normally 4 hours and 20minutes. You can change the Clean Time toany time between 3 and 5 hours, dependingon the amount of soil in your oven.Touch the Start/On pad.The self-clean cycle will automaticallybegin after CLEAN is displayed and the timecountdown appears in the display.While the oven is self-cleaning, you cantouch the Clock pad to display the timeof day. To return to the clean countdown,touch the Self Clean pad.The oven shuts off automatically whenthe clean cycle is complete, and 0:00 will flashin the display.Slide the latch handle to the left as faras it will go and open the door.24How to Set the Oven for Cleaning (on models with an OVEN TEMP Knob)Follow the directions in the Before a CleanCycle section.Latch the door.Turn the OVEN TEMP knob to CLEAN.The Clean Time is 4 hours and 20 minutes.The self-clean light will come on and stayon until the self-clean cycle is complete.The oven shuts off automatically whenthe clean cycle is complete.After a clean cycle, turn the OVEN TEMPknob to OFF and slide the latch handleto the left as far as it will go.To cancel self-clean cycle, turn OVEN TEMPknob to off and slide latch to left as far asit will go. Wait until self-clean light stopsblinking. Use oven as desired.NOTE: Never force the latch. If the ovenis too hot, you will not be able to slidethe latch.
