All other servicingshould be referred to a qualified technician.• Be sure your appliance is properly installedand grounded by a qualified technician inaccordance with the provided InstallationInstructions.• Before performing any service, DISCONNECTTHE COOKTOP POWER SUPPLY AT THEHOUSEHOLD DISTRIBUTION PANELBY REMOVING THE FUSE OR SWITCHINGOFF THE CIRCUIT BREAKER.Using Your Cooktop• Do not leave children alone—children shouldnot be left alone or unattended in an area where anappliance is in use. They should never be allowedto sit or stand on any part of the appliance.• Do not allow anyone to climb, stand or hang onthe cooktop.• CAUTION: ITEMS OF INTEREST TOCHILDREN SHOULD NOT BE STOREDIN CABINETS ABOVE A COOKTOP—CHILDREN CLIMBING ON THECOOKTOP TO REACH ITEMS COULD BESERIOUSLY INJURED.• Never wear loose-fitting or hanging garmentswhile using the appliance. Be careful whenreaching for items stored in cabinets over thecooktop. Flammable material could be ignitedif brought in contact with hot surface units andmay cause severe burns.• Always keep dish towels, dish cloths, potholders and other linens a safe distance fromyour cooktop.• Always keep wooden and plastic utensilsand canned food a safe distance away fromyour cooktop.• Teach children not to play with the controls orany other part of the cooktop.• Always keep combustible wall coverings,curtains or drapes a safe distance fromyour cooktop.• Use only dry pot holders—moist ordamp pot holders on hot surfaces mayresult in burns from steam. Do not letpot holders touch hot surface units. Do not use atowel or other bulky cloth in place of a pot holder.Such cloths can catch fire on a hot surface unit.• For your safety, never use your appliance forwarming or heating the room.• Do not use water on grease fires.Never pick up a flaming pan. Turnoff the surface unit then smotherflaming pan by covering pan completely withwell-fitting lid, cookie sheet or flat tray or, ifavailable, a multi-purpose dry chemical orfoam-type extinguisher.Flaming grease outside a pan can be putout by covering with baking soda or, if available,a multi-purpose dry chemical or foam-type fireextinguisher.Flaming grease inside a pan can be put out bycovering with baking soda, or, if available,a multi-purpose dry chemical or foam-type fireextinguisher.• Do not store flammable materials near thecooktop.• Keep hood and grease filters clean to maintaingood venting and to avoid grease fires.• When flaming foods are under the hood,turn the fan off. The fan, if operating, may spreadthe flame.• Do not let cooking grease or other flammablematerials accumulate on the cooktop.(continued next page)
