However, anyacidic foods spilled (such as fruit juices,tomato or vinegar) should not bepermitted to remain on the finish.If acids spill on the cooktop while it is hot,use a dry paper towel or cloth to wipe itup right away. When the surface hascooled, wash with soap and water orcleansing powders. Rinse well.For other spills such as fat spatterings,wash with soap and water or cleansingpowders after the surface has cooled.Rinse well. Polish with a dry cloth.Control PanelIt’s a good idea to wipe the control panelclean after each use of the cooktop. For amore thorough cleaning, the knobs canbe removed by pulling them off the knobstems. Clean with mild soap and water,rinse with clean water and polish dry witha soft cloth.Do not use abrasive cleaners, strongliquid cleaners or oven cleaners on thecontrol panel—they will damage thefinish. A 50/50 solution of vinegar andhot water works well.Lift-Up CooktopClean the area under the cooktop often.Built-up soil, especially grease, may catchfire. To make cleaning under the topeasier, the top may be lifted up andsupported by a locking arm. Aftercleaning under the top with hot, soapywater, lower the top back in place. Becareful not to pinch your fingers.To raise cooktop:Be sure all burners are turned off andunit is cool. Remove cooktop burnerbowls, grates and control knobs. Graspcooktop at the front and lift up. Raise thesupport rod into place and hook it intothe bracket on the underside of thecooktop to hold the cooktop whilecleaning. Be sure to secure the cooktopsupport rod in the cooktop strike catch.To lower cooktop:Carefully replace the support rod andlower the cooktop. Press into place. Makesure the strikes fit in the catches to fastenthe cooktop. Replace four surface unitsand control knobs.Support rod
