Care and CleaningLift-Off Oven DoorThe oven door is removable,but it is heavy. You may need helpremoving and replacing the door.To remove the door, open it a fewinches to the special stop positionthat will hold the door open. Graspfirmly on each side and lift the doorstraight up and off the hinges.NOTE: Be careful not to placehands between the hinge and theoven door frame as the hinge couldsnap back and pinch fingers.To replace the door, make sure the hinges are in thespecial stop position. Position the slots in the bottomof the door squarely over the hinges. Then lower thedoor slowly and evenly over both hinges at the sametime. If the hinges snap back against the oven frame,pull them back out.TO CLEAN THE DOOR:(Do not immerse the door in water.)Inside of the door:• Because the area inside the gasket is cleaned duringthe self clean cycle, you do not need to clean thisby hand. Any soap left on the liner causes additionalstains when the oven is heated.• The area outside the gasket can be cleaned witha scouring pad.• Do not rub or clean the door gasket—thefiberglass material of the gasket has an extremelylow resistance to abrasion. An intact and well-fitting oven door gasket is essential for energy-efficient oven operation and good baking results.If you notice the gasket becoming worn, frayed ordamaged in any way or if it has become displacedon the door, you should have it replaced.Outside of the door:• Use soap and water to thoroughly clean the top,sides and front of the oven door. Rinse well. Youmay also use a glass cleaner to clean the glass onthe outside of the door.• Spillage of marinades, fruit juices, tomato saucesand basting materials containing acids may causediscoloration and should be wiped up immediately.When the surface is cool, clean and rinse.• Do not use oven cleaners, cleansing powders orharsh abrasives on the outside of the door.Inside GasketGasketOutside GasketBroiler Pan and GridAfter broiling, remove thebroiler pan from the oven.Remove the grid from thepan. Carefully pour out greasefrom the pan into a propercontainer. Wash and rinse thebroiler pan and grid in hotwater with a soap-filled orplastic scouring pad.If food has burned on, sprinkle the grid with detergentwhile hot and cover with wet paper towels or adishcloth. Soaking the pan will remove burned on foods.The broiler pan may be cleaned with a commercialoven cleaner. Do not use an oven cleaner on the grid.Both the broiler pan and grid can also be cleaned inthe dishwasher.Do not store a soiled broiler pan and grid anywherein the range.Do not clean the broiler pan or grid in theself-cleaning oven.Oven ShelvesClean the shelves withan abrasive cleanser orsteel wool. After cleaning,rinse the shelves with cleanwater and dry with a clean cloth.NOTE: Take the shelves out of the oven before youbegin the self-clean cycle.(continued next page)31GridPan
