Using the surface units.Operating InstructionsInstallation InstructionsSafety InformationTroubleshooting TipsCustomer ServiceIndicator Lights (glass cooktops only)AHOT COOKTOP indicator light will glow when anyradiant element is turned on, and will remain on untilthe surface is cool enough to touch.A surface unitON indicator light will glow whenanysurface unit is on.NOTE: The surface unit ON indicator light may glow between thesurface control settings of LO and OFF, but there is no power tothe surface units.About the radiant surface units… (glass cooktops only)The radiant cooktop features heating units beneath asmooth glass surface.NOTE: A slight odor is normal when a new cooktop is used for thefirst time. It is caused by the heating of new parts and insulatingmaterials and will disappear in a short time.The surface unit will cycle on and off to maintainyour selected control setting.It is safe to place hot cookware from the oven orsurface on the glass surface when the surface is cool.Even after the surface units are turned off, the glasscooktop retains enough heat to continue cooking.To avoid over-cooking, remove pans from the surfaceunits when the food is cooked. Avoid placinganything on the surface unit until it has cooledcompletely.nWater stains (mineral deposits) are removable using the cleaningcream or full strength white vinegar.nUse of window cleaner may leave an iridescent film on thecooktop. The cleaning cream will remove this discoloration.nDon’t store heavy items above the cooktop. If they drop onto thecooktop, they can cause damage.nDo not use the surface as a cutting board. SURFACECOOKINGNever cook directly on the glass.Always use cookware.OFF CENTERAlways place the pan in the center ofthe surface unit you are cooking on.Dual Surface Unit Switch (glass cooktops only)The right front surface unit has 2 cooking sizes to select fromso you can match the size of the unit to the size of the cookwareyou are using.To use the small (6 inch) surface unit, push in theSMALL BURNER portion of the switch next to thecontrol knob.To use the large (9 inch) surface unit, push in theLARGE BURNER portion of the switch.9" 6"14
