The docking station provides the followinginterfaces for connection to peripheral computerequipment (see Figure 1 for locations):• Serial portThis port allows you to connect an external device with aserial interface.Note: • The docking station serial port does notsupport the ring indicate feature• Pin 9 on the docking station serial port doesnot supply 5 volts (as the pen tablet does).• PS/2-style portThis port allows you to attach a PS/2-style mouse orkeyboard.• USB portThis port allows you to attach a Universal Serial Bus(USB) connector.• DC inputThis port allows you to connect an AC Adapter toprovide input power. This input can be used forpowering the system while it is running, or for chargingthe system battery. The following illustration shows the location ofperipheral interfaces on the docking station.Figure 1. Suspend the pen tablet operation by eitherpressing the suspend/resume button or byshutting down from the Start menu.2. Turn off any peripheral devices you intend toconnect to the docking station.3. Turn off any peripheral devices that are alreadyconnected to the docking station.4. If you are connecting or disconnectingperipheral devices to the docking station, do sonow. When connecting peripherals, tighten theconnector screws, if used, to maintain consistentand reliable connections between the devicesand the docking station.CautionCircuitry in the PenCentra 130 and the dockingstation is designed to be robust, however, the pentablet and connected devices can be damaged ifprocedures given in these instructions are notfollowed when connecting devices. To avoid damage to your hardware, observe thefollowing guidelines when using your dockingstation:• Do not touch connector pins or connectorsockets on your equipment. Electrostaticdischarge can damage interface circuitry in yourequipment.• Do not connect or disconnect any device whenthe system is running. Always turn off devicesand suspend system operation beforeconnecting to or disconnecting peripheraldevices.• Do not use corresponding connectors on the pentablet and the docking station simultaneously.Interfaces on the pen tablet are duplicated by thedocking station. Connecting devices toequivalent connectors on the pen tablet anddocking station at the same time could damageequipment.• Do not jam or force component connections.
