EPSON Perfection 1240U Revision AMaintenance Overview 466.1 OverviewThis chapter provides information necessary to keep the scanner function inoptimum condition constantly and to prevent troubles.6.1.1 CleaningPerform cleaning when stain is noticeable. Stain on the document glass,particularly, has a direct effect on scanned images. Therefore, be sure to cleanthe glass well to remove stain thoroughly. Outer CasesWipe dirt off with a clean cloth, moistened with water and squeezed tightly.To remove severe stains, use a neutral detergent. Document GlassRemove dust and paper debris with a dry, clean cloth. If the dirt is severeor foreign matter is stuck on the glass, use a cloth soaked with neutraldetergent. If any trace is left, wipe it off with a dry, clean cloth again.6.1.2 LubricationYou need to lubricate the carriage unit if you have replaced it or notice itmaking abnormal noise.
