17Automatic Ice & Water Maker/DispenserPriming the water sup-ply system1 Begin filling the tank by pressing andholding a drinking glass against thewater dispenser paddle.2 Keep the glass in this position untilwater comes out of the dispenser. Itmay take about 1½ minutes.3 Continue dispensing water for about threeminutes to flush the system and plumbingconnections of any impurities (stopping toempty the glass as necessary).Ice maker operation & careAfter the refrigerator is installed properlyand has cooled for several hours, the icemaker can produce ice within 24 hours.The ice maker will fill the ice bin from therear. You must dispense some ice to forcethe ice forward in the bin. This will allowthe bin to fill completely.IMPORTANTYour ice maker is turned on at the factoryso it can work as soon as you installyour refrigerator. If you cannot connect awater supply, set the ice maker’s On/Officon to Off and turn off the water supplyvalve; otherwise, the ice maker’s fill valvemay make a loud chattering noise whenit attempts to operate without water.CAUTIONFor proper dispenser operation,recommended water supply pressureshould fall between 30 psi and 100psi. Excessive pressure may causewater filter to malfunction.NOTEThe water dispenser has a built-in device thatshuts off the water flow after three minutes ofcontinuous use. To reset this shutoff device,simply release the dispenser paddle. NOTEThe ice maker also has a built-in plasticsignal bale arm that automatically stopsice production when the ice bin is full.This signal arm should not be used tomanually stop the ice maker.IMPORTANTTurning off the ice maker will result inexisting ice melting in the bin.IMPORTANTTurning off the ice maker will disable theice dispenser. You will still be able todispense water.Turning the ice maker on and offIce production is controlled by the icemaker’s On/Off icon on the control panel.Press and hold the “Ice Off” icon for threeseconds to turn the ice maker “ON” or“OFF”. When the ice maker is “OFF” thered LED above the icon will be illuminated.NOTEDispensed water is not chilled. Forcolder water, add ice to cup or containerbefore dispensing water.Using the ice maker after installationBefore making ice for the first time, besure to prime the water supply system.Air in new plumbing lines can result intwo or three empty ice maker cycles.Furthermore, if the system is not flushed,the first ice cubes may be discolored orhave an odd flavor.
