GAS COOKTOP INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS6Electrical Requirements120 volt, 60 Hertz, properly grounded branch circuitprotected by a 15 amp circuit breaker or time delay fuse.Do not use an extension cord with this cooktop.Grounding InstructionsIMPORTANT Please read carefully. For personal safety, this appliance must be properlygrounded. The power cord of this appliance is equipped with a3-prong (grounding) plug which mates with a standard3-prong grounding wall receptacle (see Figure 7) tominimize the possibility of electric shock hazard from theappliance. The wall receptacle and circuit should be checked bya qualified electrician to make sure the receptacle isproperly grounded. The supply line should be equipped with an approvedshutoff valve. This valve should be located in the sameroom as the cooktop and should be in a location thatallows ease of opening and closing. Do not block accessto the shutoff valve. The valve is for turning on orshutting off gas to the appliance.Figure 6Figure 7Preferred MethodGrounding typewall receptacleDo not, underany circumstances, cut, remove,or bypass thegrounding prong.Power supplycord with 3-pronggrounding plug.Where a standard 2-prong wall receptacle is installed,it is the personal responsibility and obligation of theconsumer to have it replaced by a properly grounded3-prong wall receptacle.Do not, under any circumstances, cut or remove thethird (ground) prong from the power cord.Disconnect electrical supply cord fromwall receptacle before servicing cooktop.Cooktop Installation1. Visually inspect the cooktop for damage.2. If you are installing the optional Stainless Steelbacksplash, first fix it at the back of the cooktopusing the screws supplied with the kit and follow theinstructions attached.3. Set the cooktop into the countertop cutout.NOTE: Do not use caulking compound; cooktop shouldbe removable for service when needed.Once the regulator is in place, open the shutoff valve inthe gas supply line. Wait a few minutes for gas to movethrough the gas line.Check for leaks. After connecting the cooktop to thegas supply, check the system for leaks with a manometer. If a manometer is not available, turn on the gas supplyand use a liquid leak detector (or soap and water) at alljoints and connections to check for leaks.Do not use a flame to check for leaksfrom gas connections. Checking for leaks with a flamemay result in a fire or explosion.Tighten all connections if necessary to prevent gasleakage in the cooktop or supply line.Check alignment of control knob valves afterconnecting the cooktop to the gas supply to be sure thecooktop manifold pipe has not moved. A misalignmentcould cause the valve stems to rub on the control panel, resulting in a gas leak at the valve.Disconnect this cooktop and its individual shutoffvalve from the gas supply piping system during anypressure testing of that system at test pressures greaterthan 1/2 psig (3.5 kPa or 14" (35.6 cm) water column).Isolate the cooktop from the gas supply pipingsystem by closing its individual manual shutoff valveduring any pressure testing of the gas supply pipingsystem at test pressures equal to or less than 1/2 psig(3.5 kPa or 14" (35.6 cm) water column).
