Getting Started 45To recover from a critically low battery:1 Plug in the AC adapter or replace the main battery with acharged battery.2 Press the power button to turn on the device.By default, the device turns off if the device is left unused for a period oftime. This is called the sleep mode. For information on setting theamount of time during which the device can remain idle before it turnsoff, see "System Tab" on page 75.To save power, you can turn off the power of the Axim without losing anydata. The data is stored in Flash ROM and hence is not lost when thedevice is switched off.Using Your AximWhen you turn on your device, the Today screen appears. You can alsoview the Today screen by tapping the Start button and then tappingToday. The Today screen displays the date and information about thedevice owner, today’s calendar, and important tasks. To customize theToday screen:1 Tap Start → Settings.2 Tap the Personal tab → Today.Use the Appearance tab to change the background of the Today screen.Use the Items tab to change the items that appear on the Today screen.
