9ASSEMBLY9ASSEMBLYDrift CuttersThe snow thrower drift cutters are mounted inverted at the factory for shippingpurposes.1. Remove the four wing knobs (two on each side) and carriage bolts. Placedrift cutter in upright position and re-secure. See Figure 8.IMPORTANT: Make sure to install the wing nuts on the outside of the augerhousing when re-assembling the drift cutters. The wing nuts are onlypositioned on the inside of the housing for shipping purposes.Figure 8Shear PinsA pair of replacement auger shear pins and bow tie cotter pins have been includedwith your snow thrower. There are holes provided in the plastic dash panel forconvenient storage of the shear pins. Push the pins through the holes in the dashpanel and secure with the bow-tie cotter pins. See Figure 9.NOTE: If the shear pins are not installed in the panel they can be found in themanual bag.Figure 9Set-UpChute Clean-Out ToolWARNINGNever use your hands to clear a clogged chute assembly. Shut off engine andremain behind handles until all moving parts have stopped before using theclean-out tool to clear the chute assembly.A chute clean-out tool is fastened to the top of the auger housing with a mountingclip. See Figure 7. The tool is designed to clear a chute assembly of ice and snow. Thisitem is fastened with a cable tie at the factory for shipping purposes.
