English4• Do not use an extension cord unless it is absolutelynecessary. Use of improper extension cord could result inrisk of fire, electric shock or electrocution.• When operating a charger outdoors, always providea dry location and use an extension cord suitablefor outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor usereduces the risk of electric shock.• An extension cord must have adequate wire size(AWG or American Wire Gauge) for safety. The smallerthe gauge number of the wire, the greater the capacityof the cable, that is, 16 gauge has more capacity than 18gauge. An undersized cord will cause a drop in line voltageresulting in loss of power and overheating. When usingmore than one extension to make up the total length,be sure each individual extension contains at least theminimum wire size. The following table shows the correctsize to use depending on cord length and nameplateampere rating. If in doubt, use the next heavier gauge. Thelower the gauge number, the heavier the cord.Minimum gauge for Cord setsVolts Total length of Cord in Feet(meters)120 V 25 (7.6) 50 (15.2) 100 (30.5) 150 (45.7)240 V 50 (15.2) 100 (30.5) 200 (61.0) 300 (91.4)Ampere RatingAmerican Wire gaugeMoreThannotMoreThan0 6 18 16 16 146 10 18 16 14 1210 12 16 16 14 1212 16 14 12 Not Recommended• Do not place any object on top of the charger orplace the charger on a soft surface that might blockthe ventilation slots and result in excessive internalheat. Place the charger in a position away from any heatsource. The charger is ventilated through slots in the topand the bottom of the housing.• Do not operate the charger with a damaged cordor plug–have them replaced immediately.• Do not operate the charger if it has received a sharpblow, been dropped or otherwise damaged in anyway. Take it to an authorized service center.• Do not disassemble the charger; take it to anauthorized service center when service or repairis required. Incorrect reassembly may result in a risk ofelectric shock, electrocution or fire.• Disconnect the charger from the outlet beforeattempting any cleaning. This will reduce the risk ofelectric shock. Removing the battery pack will not reducethis risk.• NEVER attempt to connect 2 chargers together.• The charger is designed to operate on standard120V household electrical power. Do not attempt touse it on any other voltage. This does not apply to thevehicular charger. WARNING: Shock hazard. Do not allow any liquid toget inside the charger. Electric shock may result.the Call 2 Recycle® program provides an environmentallyconscious alternative.Call 2 Recycle, Inc., in cooperation with CRAFTSMANand other battery users, has established the program inthe United States and Canada to facilitate the collectionof spent nickel cadmium, nickel metal hydride orlithium-ion batteries. Help protect our environment andconserve natural resources by returning the spent nickelcadmium, nickel metal hydride or lithium-ion batteriesto an authorized service center or to your local retailer forrecycling. You may also contact your local recycling centerfor information on where to drop off the spent battery.RBRC® is a registered trademark of Call 2 Recycle, Inc..Transportation WARNING: Fire hazard. Do not store or carry thebattery pack so that metal objects can contactexposed battery terminals. For example, donot place the battery pack in aprons, pockets, toolboxes, product kit boxes, drawers, etc., with loosenails, screws, keys, etc. Transporting batteriescan possibly cause fires if the battery terminalsinadvertently come in contact with conductivematerials such as keys, coins, hand tools and thelike. The US Department of Transportation HazardousMaterial Regulations (HMR) actually prohibittransporting batteries in commerce or on airplanesin carry-on baggage UNLESS they are properlyprotected from short circuits. So when transportingindividual battery packs, make sure that the batteryterminals are protected and well insulated frommaterials that could contact them and cause a shortcircuit. NOTE: LI-ION batteries should not be put inchecked baggage.Important Safety Instructions for AllBattery Chargers WARNING: Read all safety warnings, instructions, and cautionary markings for thebattery pack, charger and product. Failure tofollow the warnings and instructions may resultin electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.• DO NOT attempt to charge the battery pack withany chargers other than a CRAFTSMAN charger.CRAFTSMAN charger and battery pack are specificallydesigned to work together.• These chargers are not intended for any uses otherthan charging CRAFTSMAN rechargeable batteries.Any other uses may result in risk of fire, electric shockor electrocution.• Do not expose the charger to rain or snow.• Pull by the plug rather than the cord whendisconnecting the charger. This will reduce the risk ofdamage to the electric plug and cord.• Make sure that the cord is located so that it will notbe stepped on, tripped over or otherwise subjectedto damage or stress. |
