TRACTORAlways observe safety ruleswhen perform-ing any maintenance.BRAKE OPERATIONIf tractor requires more than 5 feet (1,5 m)to stop at highest speed in highest gear ona level, dry concrete or paved surface, thenbrake must be serviced. (See "TO CHECKBRAKE" in the Service and Adjustmentssection of this manual).TIRES• Maintain proper air pressure in all tires(See the side of tires for proper PSI.)• Keep tires free of gasoline, oil, or insectcontrol chemicals which can harm rubber.• Avoid stumps, stones, deep ruts, sharpobjects and other hazards that may causetire damage.NOTE: To seal tire punctures and preventflat tires due to slow leaks, tire sealant maybe purchased from your local parts dealer.Tire sealant also prevents tire dry rot andcorrosion.OPERATOR PRESENCE SYSTEM ANDREVERSE OPERATION SYSTEM (ROS)Be sure operator presence and reverseoperation systems are working properly, ifyour tractor does not function as described,repair the problem immediately.• The engine should not start unless thebrake pedal is fully depressed, and theattachment clutch control is in the disen-gaged position.CHECK OPERATOR PRESENCE SYSTEM• When the engine is running, any attemptby the operator to leave the seat withoutfirst setting the parking brake should shutoff the engine.• When the engine is running and the at-tachment clutch is engaged, any attemptby the operator to leave the seat shouldshut off the engine.• The attachment clutch should never oper-ate unless the operator is in the seat.CHECK REVERSE OPERATION (ROS)SYSTEM• When the engine is running with the ignitionswitch in the engine "ON" position and theattachment clutch engaged, any attemptby the operator to drive in reverse shouldshut off the engine.• When the engine is running with the ignitionswitch in the ROS "ON" position and theattachment clutch engaged, any attemptby the operator to drive in reverse shouldNOT shut off the engine.Ros "On"PositionEngine "On" Position(Normal Operating)BLADE CAREFor best results mower blades must be sharp.Replace worn, bent or damaged blades._[_,CAUTION: Use only a replacement bladeapproved by the manufacturer of your tractor.Using a blade not approved by the manu-facturer of your tractor is hazardous, coulddamage your tractor and void your warranty.BLADE REMOVAL1. Raise mower to highest position to allowaccess to blades.NOTE: Protect your hands with gloves and/or wrap blade with heavy cloth.2. Remove blade bolt by turning counter-clockwise.3. Install new blade with stamped "GRASSSIDE" facing the ground.IMPORTANT: To ensure proper assembly,center hole in blade must align with star onmandrel assembly.4. Install and tighten blade bolt securely(45-55 Ft. Lbs./62-75 Nm).IMPORTANT: Special blade bolt is heattreated.StarCenter HoleBlade Bolt Mandrel(Special) -..___j._y_ AssemblyBladeBATTERYYour tractor has a battery charging systemwhich is sufficient for normal use. However,periodic charging of the battery with an au-tomotive charger will extend its life.• Keep battery and terminals clean.• Keep battery bolts tight.• Keep small vent holes open.• Recharge at 6-10 amperes for 1 hour.NOTE: The original equipment battery onyour tractor is maintenance free. Do notattempt to open or remove caps or covers.Adding or checking level of electrolyte isnot necessary.22 |
