Federal laws apply onfederal lands. If you equip the muffler with a spark arrester,it must be maintained in effective working order.Clean and inspect the spark attester as foltows:1. To remove muffler heat shield from muffler, removefour screws that connect guard to muffler bracket.2. Remove four screws that attach spark attesterscreen.Spark AttesterScreeneat Shield. inspect screen and replace if torn, perforated orotherwise damaged. DO NOT use a defectivescreen. If screen is not damaged, clean it withcommercial solvent.4. Reattach screen and muffler guard.Air Cooling SystemOver time debris may accumulate in cylinder coolingfins and cannot be observed without partial enginedisassembly. For this reason, we recommend youhave an authorized Sears service dealer clean thecooling system per recommended intervals (see"Maintenance Schedule" on page 13).
