OPERATIONYour sweeper is a precision piece of equipment.Engineering skill and experience have been combinedto provide reasonable safety and efficiency. How-ever, as with any type of mechanical equipment,carelessness or error on the part of the operator canresult in damage to your equipment. Therefore,exercise care at all times and do not subject yoursweeper to misuse.SWEEPING SPEED. Select a vehicle speed to throw material to the rearof the hopper bag.BRUSH HEIGHT ADJUSTMENTFor maximum performance and to avoid tire skid-ding, adjust the height of the sweeper to engagebrush tips approximately-1/2" into the grass. Toadjust the sweeper brushes, loosen the adjustmentknob and push down on the height adjustment handleto raise the brushes. See figure 30. Always cut thegrass to an even height before sweeping.& CAUTION: Keep sweeper away fromfire, Excessive heat can damage thebrushesand hopper bag and could causethe bag and its contents to burn.ROPESH HEIGHTHANDLETO RAISE BRUSH(Push Down)KNOB-1FIGURE 30DUMPING OF SWEEPERYour sweeper can be dumped easily without gettingoff of the rider or tractor. Remove thetwo support rods and fold bag down.LUBRICATION/CUSTOMERRESPONSIBILITIESThe bearings in the sweeper have been prelubricatedat the factory; however it is recommended that a fewdrops of light oil should be added to the brush shaftbearings twice a year. Also, the wheels should beremoved to clean gears every two ,years. Aftercleaning apply an even coat of light grease. Seefigures 32, 33 and 34.& CAUTION: Never attach the hopperrope to any part of your body or clothing!Never hold onto the rope while towingthe sweeper! Attach the rope to thetowing vehicle to keep it away fromwheels and rotating parts.
