Battery tools do not have to be plugged into anelectrical outlet; therefore, they are always inoperating condition. Be aware of possible hazardswhen not using your battery tool or when changingaccessories. Following this rule will reduce the risk ofelectric shock, fire, or serious personal injury. Do not place battery tools or their batteries nearfire or heat. This will reduce the risk of explosion andpossibly injury. Do not crush, drop or damage battery pack. Do notuse a battery pack or charger that has been droppedor received a sharp blow. A damaged battery is subjectto explosion. Properly dispose of a dropped or damagedbattery immediately. Batteries can explode in the presence of a sourceof ignition, such as a pilot light. To reduce the risk ofserious personal injury, never use any cordless productin the presence of open flame. An exploded battery canpropel debris and chemicals. If exposed, flush with waterimmediately. Do not charge battery tool in a damp or wet location.Following this rule will reduce the risk of electric shock. For use only with 19.2 V lithium-ion chargers, seetool/appliance/battery pack/charger correlationsupplement 988000-272. Use of other chargers mayresult in personal injury, fire, or damage. Do not charge battery in an area of extreme heat orcold. It will work best at normal room temperature.To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, do notstore outside or in vehicles. Under extreme usage or temperature conditions,battery leakage may occur. If liquid comes incontact with your skin, wash immediately with soapand water. If liquid gets into your eyes, flush themwith clean water for at least 10 minutes, then seekimmediate medical attention. Following this rule willreduce the risk of serious personal injury. When battery pack is not in use, keep it away fromother metal objects like: paper clips, coins, keys,nails, screws, or other small metal objects that canmake a connection from one terminal to another.Shorting the battery terminals together may causesparks, burns, or a fire. Always remove battery pack from your tool when youare assembling parts, making adjustments, cleaning,or when not in use. Removing battery pack will preventaccidental starting that could cause serious personalinjury. Always remove battery pack before storing thedevice. Always wear eye protection with side shields markedto comply with ANSI Z87.1. Failure to do so couldresult in objects being thrown into your eyes and otherpossible serious injuries. Keep battery pack dry, clean, and free from oil andgrease. Always use a clean cloth when cleaning.Never use brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-basedproducts, or any solvents to clean battery pack. Save these instructions. Refer to them frequently anduse them to instruct others who may use this tool. When the315.PP2020 or 315.PP2030 Craftsman 19.2 V lithium-ionbattery pack is installed into the tool and has charge, thetool’s C3 indicator light will glow.BATTERY GAUGESee Figure 1. To display the amount of charge left in the battery, pressthe battery gauge button. If the battery gauge indicator light glows green, thebattery pack is fully charged. If it glows yellow, it has a usable charge remaining butwill soon require recharging. If it glows red, the battery requires recharging.LITHIUM-ION BATTERY PACKSLithium-ion batteries deliver fade free power for theirentire run time. Lithium-ion tools will not gradually losepower due to decreasing battery charge. Instead, powerfrom the battery pack will drop from full to zero once thefull charge has been drained from the battery.
