Battery tools do not have to be plugged into anelectrical outlet; therefore, they are always inoperating condition. Be aware of possible hazardswhen not using your battery tool or when changingaccessories. Following this rule will reduce the risk ofelectric shock, fire, or serious personal injury. Do not place battery tools or their batteries nearfire or heat. This will reduce the risk of explosion andpossibly injury. Do not crush, drop or damage battery pack. Donot use a battery pack or charger that has beendropped or received a sharp blow. A damagedbattery is subject to explosion. Properly dispose of adropped or damaged battery immediately. Batteries can explode in the presence of a sourceof ignition, such as a pilot light. To reduce the riskof serious personal injury, never use any cordlessproduct in the presence of open flame. An explodedbattery can propel debris and chemicals. If exposed,flush with water immediately. Do not charge battery tool in a damp or wetlocation. Following this rule will reduce the risk ofelectric shock. Charge only with Craftsman dual-chemistrybattery chargers. Use of other chargers may result inpersonal injury, fire, or damage. Do not charge battery in an area of extremeheat or cold. It will work best at normal roomtemperature. To reduce the risk of seriouspersonal injury, do not store outside or in vehicles. Under extreme usage or temperature conditions,battery leakage may occur. If liquid comes incontact with your skin, wash immediately withsoap and water. If liquid gets into your eyes, flushthem with clean water for at least 10 minutes, thenseek immediate medical attention. Following thisrule will reduce the risk of serious personal injury. When battery pack is not in use, keep it awayfrom other metal objects like: paper clips, coins,keys, nails, screws, or other small metal objectsthat can make a connection from one terminal toanother. Shorting the battery terminals together maycause sparks, burns, or a fire. Always remove battery pack from your tool whenyou are assembling parts, making adjustments,cleaning, or when not in use. Removing batterypack will prevent accidental starting that could causeserious personal injury. Always remove battery pack before storing thedevice. Always wear eye protection with side shieldsmarked to comply with ANSI Z87.1. Failure to doso could result in objects being thrown into your eyesand other possible serious injuries. Keep battery pack dry, clean, and free from oil andgrease. Always use a clean cloth when cleaning.Never use brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-basedproducts, or any solvents to clean battery pack. Save these instructions. Refer to them frequentlyand use them to instruct others who may use thistool. Wash hands after handling.LITHIUM-ION BATTERY PACKSLithium-ion batteries deliver fade free power for theirentire run time. Lithium-ion tools will not gradually losepower due to decreasing battery charge. Instead, powerfrom the battery pack will drop from full to zero once thefull charge has been drained from the battery. Once thishappens, recharging of the battery is required.It is not necessary to drain the battery pack completelybefore recharging.BATTERY PROTECTION FEATURESLithium-ion battery packs are designed with features thatprotect the lithium-ion cells and maximize battery life.If the tool stops during use, release the trigger to resetand resume operation. If the tool still does not work, thebattery needs to be recharged.COLD WEATHER OPERATIONThe lithium-ion battery pack can be used in temperaturesdown to 32°F (0°C). Put the battery pack on a tool and usethe tool in a light duty application.
