PREPARATION FOR CUTTINGPROPER GRIP ON HANDLESSee Figures 8 - 10.Refer to GENERAL SAFETY RULES earlier in thismanual for appropriate safety equipment.[] Wear non-slip gloves for maximum grip andprotection,,u Hold the saw firmly with both hands. Alwayskeep your left hand on the front handle andyour right hand on the rear handle so thatyour body is to the left of the chain lineoWARNING: Never use a left-handed (cross-handed) grip, or any stance which would placeyour body or arm across the chain line.Squeeze the trigger and let the chainaccelerate to full speed before entering thecut°[] Begin cutting with the saw against the log.[] Keep the unit running the entire time you arecutting, maintain a steady speed.[] Allow the chain to cut for you; exert only lightdownward pressure., If you force the cut,damage to the bar, chain, or unit can result°[] Release the trigger as soon as the cut iscompleted, allowing the chain to stop, Ifyou run the saw without a cutting load,unnecessary wear can occur to the chain,bar, and unit.B Do not put pressure on the saw at the end ofthe cuL[] Maintain a proper grip on the saw wheneverthe unit is running. The fingers should encirclethe handle and the thumb is wrapped underthe handlebar. This grip is least likely tobe broken (by a kickback or other suddenreaction of the saw). Any grip in which thethumb and fingers are on the same side of thehandle, is dangerous because a slight kick ofthe saw can cause loss of control_WARNING= Do not operate the throttletrigger with your left hand and hold the fronthandle with your right hand. Never allow anypart of your body to be in the chain line whileoperating a saw.PROPER CUTTING STANCESee Figure 11_[] Weight should be balanced with both feet onsolid ground.[] Keep left arm with elbow locked in a "straightarm" position to withstand any kickbackforce.[] Your body should always be to the left of thechain line.[] Thumb should be on underside of handlebar.BASIC CUTTING PROCEDUREPractice cutting a few small togs using the followingtechnique to get the "feel" of using the saw beforeyou begin a major sawing operation.[] Take the proper stance in front of the woodwith the saw off.WORK AREA PRECAUTIONS[] Cut only wood or materials made from wood,no sheet metal, no plastics, no masonry, nonon-wood building materials°[] Never allow children to operate the saw.Allow no person to use this chain saw whohas not read this Operator's Manual orreceived adequate instructions for the safeand proper use of this chain saw.[] When felling a tree, keep everyone - helpers,bystanders, children, and animals - a safedistance from the cutting area. During fellingoperations, the safe distance should be aleast twice the height of the largest trees inthe felling area. During bucking operations,keep a minimum distance of 15 feet betweenworkers.Trees should not be felled in amanner that would endanger any person,strike any utility line or cause any propertydamage. If the tree does make contact withany utility line, the utility company should benotified immediately.[] Always cut with both feet on solid ground toprevent being pulled off balance,,[] Do not cut above shoulder height, as a sawheld higher is difficult to control againstkickback forces.[] Do not fell trees near electrical wiresor buildings_ Leave this operation forprofessionals.[] Cut only when visibility and light are adequatefor you to see clearly°12 - English |
