For complete charging instructions, refer to theOperator's Manual for your Craftsman battery packand charger models_TO INSTALL / REMOVE BATTERY PACKSee Figure 5o_k WARNING: Always remove battery packfrom your tool when you are assemblingparts, making adjustments, cleaning, carrying,transporting or when not in use., Removingbattery pack will prevent accidental starting thatcould cause serious personal injury.NOTE: To avoid serious personal injury, alwaysremove the battery pack and keep hands clear ofthe lock-out button when carrying or transportingthe tool.To install:[] Place the battery pack in your chain saw°Align raised rib on battery pack with groove inchain saw's battery port°[] Make sure the latches on each side ofthe battery pack snap in place and thatbattery pack is secured in chain saw beforebeginning operation.To remove:Locate latches on side of battery pack and depressboth sides to release the battery pack from thechain saw°CAUTION: When placing battery pack in yourchain saw, be sure raised rib on battery packaligns with groove in chain saw's battery portand latches snap in place properly_ Improperassembly of battery pack can cause damageto internal components.CAUTION: Remove battery pack from uniLFill oil tank with Craftsman Bar and ChainLubricant before starting the chain saw. Failureto lubricate the chain will cause damage to thebar and chain°CHAIN OIL SYSTEMSee Figure 6,[] Use Craftsman Bar and Chain Lubricant°It is formulated to perform over a widetemperature range with no dilution required.[][][]NOTE: Do not use dirty, used or otherwisecontaminated lubricants° Damage may occurto the bar or chain.Carefully pour the bar and chain lubricant intothe tank.Check and fill the oil tank when battery isrecharged, or as needed°Depress the oil tank cap several times topump the lubricant to the chain beforestarting the saw.[] Depress the oil tank cap every 20-30 secondswhile cutting to keep the chain lubricated.NOTE: It is normal for lubricant to seep from thesaw when not in use° To prevent seepage, emptythe oil tank after each use. When storing the unitfor a long period of time (three months or longer) besure the chain is lightly lubricated; this will preventrust on the chain and bar sprocket.STARTING AND STOPPING THE CHAINSAWSee Figure Z,_ WARNING: Keep body to the left of thechain line. Never straddle the saw or chain, orlean over past the chain line.Starting the chain saw:[] Place the chain saw on a flat bare surfaceand make sure no objects or obstructionsare in immediate vicinity which could come incontact with the bar and chain.[] Press and hold the trigger lock-out button°This makes the trigger operational.[] Press and hold the trigger, release the triggerlock-out button and continue to squeeze thetrigger for continued operation.Stopping the chain saw:[] Release the trigger to stop the chain sawn[] Upon release of the trigger, the trigger lock-out button will be automatically reset to thelock position.This cordless chain saw is not designed for cuttingtrees larger than 5 in. in diameter.This cordless chain saw is designed forlimbing and pruning type cutting, as wellas cutting trees up to 5 inn in diameter only.tl - English
