As with any type of power equipment, carelessness or error on the part of the operator can result insedous injury. This machine is capable of amputating hands and feet and throwing objects. Failure toobserve the following safety instructions could result in serious injury or death.General Operation1. Read, understand, and follow all instructions on themachine and in the manual(s) before attempting toassemble and operate. Keep this manual in a safe placefor future and regular reference and for orderingreplacement parts.2. Be familiar with all controls and their proper operation.Know how to stop machine and disengage them quickly.3. Never allow children under 14 years old to operate thismachine. Children 14 years old and over should read andunderstand operation instructions and safety rules in thismanual and should be trained and supervised by parent.4. Never allow adults to operate this machine withoutproper instruction.5. To help avoid blade contact or a thrown object injury,keep bystanders, helpers, children and pets at least 75feet from the machine while it is in operation. Stopmachine if anyone enters the area.6. Thoroughly inspect the area where the equipment is tobe used. Remove all stones, sticks, wire, bones, toys,and other foreign objects which could be picked up andthrown by the blade(s). Thrown objects can causeserious personal injury.7. Plan your mowing pattern to avoid discharge of materialtoward roads, sidewalks, bystanders and the like. Also,avoid discharging matedal against a wall or obstructionwhich may cause discharged material to dcochet backtoward the operator.8. Always wear safety glasses or safety goggles duringoperation and while performing an adjustment or repair toprotect your eyes. Thrown objects which dcoshet cancause serious injury to the eyes.9. Wear sturdy, rough-soled work shoes and close-fittingslacks and shirts. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry can becaught in movable parts. Never operate this machine inbare feet or sandals.10. Be aware of the mower and attachment dischargedirection and do not point it at anyone. Do net operate themower without the discharge cover or entire grasscatcher in its proper place.11. Do not put hands or feet near rotating parts or under thecuffing deck. Contact with the blade(s) can amputatehands and feet.12. A missing or damaged discharge cover can cause bladecontact or thrown object injuries.13. Stop the blade(s) when crossing gravel drives, walks, orroads and while not cutting grass.14. Watch for traffic when operating near or crossingroadways. This machine is not Intended for use on anypublic roadway.15. Do not operate the machine while under the influence ofalcohol or drugs.16. Mow only in daylight or good artificial light. Never carrypassengers.17. Disengage blade(s) before shifting into reverse. Back upslowly. Always look down and behind before and whilebacking to avoid a back-over accident.18. Slow down before tuming. Operate the machinesmoothly. Avoid erratic operation and excessive speed.19. Disengage blade(s), sat parking brake, stop engine andwait until the blade(s) come to a complete stop beforeremoving grass catcher, emptying grass, uncloggingchute, removing any grass or debds, or making anyadjustments.20. Never leave a running machine unattended. Always turnoff blade(s), place transmission in neutral, set parkingbrake, stop engine and remove key before dismounting.21. Use extra care when loading or unloading the machineinto a trailer or truck. This unit should not be ddven up ordown ramp(s), because the unit could tip over, causingserious personal injury. The unit must be pushedmanually on ramp(s) to load or unload pmpedy.22. Muffierandenginebecomehotandcancauseabum.Donot touch.23. Check overheed clearances carefully before ddvingunder low tree branches, wires, door openings etc.,where the operator may be struck or pulled from the unit,which could result in serious injury.24. Disengage all sttachment clutches, depress the brakepedal completely and shift into neutral before attemptingto start engine.25. Your machine is designed to cut normal residential grassof a height no more than 10". Do not attempt to mowthrough unusually tall, dry grass (e.g., pasture) or piles ofdry leaves. Dry grass or leaves may contact the engineexhaust and/or build up on the mower deck presenting apotential fire hazard.3 |
