See Figure 13.A WARNING: Do not put material largerthan is specified into the hopper, and/or intothe chipper chute. Personal injury ordamage to the machine could result.• If it becomes necessary to push material intothechipper-shradder, use the tamper-- not yourhands.• For collecting raked leaves into the hopper, firstremember to put the hopper flaps behind theretaining bracket inside the upper hopper.WARNING: Never remove chute deflectortill the unit has completely stopped. Nevershut off the engine until all chipping iscompleted. For best performance, it is important to keep theshredding blade and the chipper blades sharp. If thecomposition of the material being dischargedchanges (becomes stringy, etc.) or if the rate at whichthe material isdischarged slows down considerably, itis likely that the shredding blade and/or chipperblades are dull and need to be sharpened orreplaced. Refer to Service and Adjustments sectionon page 15 of this manual.IMPORTANT: There is a flail screen located insidethe housing in the discharge area. If the flail screenbecomes clogged, remove and clean a_ instructed inthe Service and Adjustments section.A WARNING: The chipper-shredderdischarges materialswith considerablevelocity. Keep away from the area aroundthedischargechute. Make sure that the rubberflaps inside the hopper are not tucked underthe bracket while operating the shredder.Always atop the engine and disconnectthespark plug wire when removing or attachingthe bag, changing containers, or removingtheshredded material.
