As with any type of power equipment, carelessness or error on the part of the operator canresult in serious injury. This machine is capable of amputating hands and feet and throwing objects.Failure to observe the following safety instructions could result in serious injury or death.TRAINING 2.1. Read, understand, and follow all instructions onthe machine and in the manual(s) beforeattempting to assemble and operate. Keep thismanual in a safe place for future and regular 3.reference and for ordering replacement parts.2. Be familiar with all controls and their properoperation. Know how to stop the machine anddisengage them quickly.3. Never allow children under 16 years old tooperate this machine. Children 16 years old and 4.over should read and understand the operationinstructions and safety rules in this manual andshould be trained and supervised by a parent.4. Never allow adults to operate this machine 5.without proper instruction.5. Keep bystanders, helpers, pets, and children at 6.least 75 feet from the machine while it is inoperation. Stop machine if anyone enters thearea.6. Never run an engine indoors or in a poorlyventilated area. Engine exhaust contains carbonmonoxide, an odorless and deadly gas.7. Do not put hands and feet near rotating parts or inthe feeding chambers and discharge opening.Contact with the rotating impeller can amputatefingers, hands, and feet.8. Never attempt to unclog either the feed intake ordischarge opening, remove or empty vacuumbag, or inspect and repair the machine while theengine is running. Shut the engine off and waituntil all moving parts have come to a completestop. Disconnect the spark plug wire and groundit against the engine.PREPARATION. Thoroughly inspect the area where theequipment is to be used. Remove all rocks,bottles, cans, or other foreign objects which couldbe picked up or thrown and cause personal injuryor damage to the machine.Always wear safety glasses or safety gogglesduring operation or while performing anadjustment or repair, to protect eyes. Thrownobjects which ricochet can cause serious injury tothe eyes.Wear sturdy, rough-soled work shoes and close-fitting slacks and shirts. Loose fitting clothes orjewelry can be caught in movable parts. Neveroperate this machine in bare feet or sandals.Wear leather work gloves when feeding materialin the chipper chute.Before starting, check all bolts and screws forproper tightness to be sure the machine is in safeworking condition. Also, visually inspect machinefor any damage at frequent intervals.Maintain or replace safety and instructions labels,as necessary.To avoid personal injury or property damage useextreme care in handling gasoline. Gasoline isextremely flammable and the vapors areexplosive. Serious personal injury can occurwhen gasoline is spilled on yourself or yourclothes which can ignite. Wash your skin andchange clothes immediately.a. Use only an approved gasoline container.b. Extinguish all cigarettes, cigars, pipes, andother sources of ignition.c. Never fuel machine indoors.d. Never remove gas cap or add while theengine is hot or running.e. Allow engine to cool at least two minutesbefore refueling.f. Never over fill fuel tank. Fill tank to no morethan 1/2 inch below bottom of filler neck toprovide space for fuel expansion.g. Replace gasoline cap and tighten securely.h. If gasoline is spilled, wipe it offthe engineand equipment. Move machine to anotherarea. Wait 5 minutes before starting theengine. |
