FENCE ROTATION/ANGLE ADJUSTMENTSee Figure 8.The fence on the detail biscuit joiner can be rotated t80 °and set at either 45 ° or 90 ° angles.• Unplug the tool.• Loosen the two height adjustment knobs.• Pull the fence forward and slide it down the front baseuntil it can be removed through the key hole slots.• Rotate the fence t80 °.• Reinstall the fence on the front base. Place heightadjustment knob bolts in key hole slots and align boltheads with the slots on back of front base.• Slide fence up the front base to desired depth of cut.• Tighten height adjustment knobs securely.FENCEORIENTATIONFOR45 ° ANGLESTABSFENCEORIENTATIONFOR90° ANGLESHEIGHTADJUSTMENTKNOBBOLT(S)LINE OF CUT INDICATORSSee Figure 9.The detail biscuit joiner has a centerline/line of cut indica-tor on the reversible fence and a centerline indicator markon the bottom side of the bottom shoe to help you makeaccurate cuts. When making a cut for biscuit joints, determine the loca-tion of each biscuit spline joint and mark a centerline ofthe joint by drawing a line across each workpiece. In general, the small R1 biscuits should be used formiter cuts in smaller, thinner materials. The larger biscuitsshould be used for edge-to-edge joinery. When joining thick materials, such as 2 in. x 4 in. dressedlumber, stack two biscuits, one above the other. Whenjoining even thicker materials, use additional biscuits, stacked above each other. The following sections illustrate how to make variousspline joints using the detail biscuit joiner.13
