6 Before Using the ScannerAbout the AC adapter• Connect only to a power outlet of the rated voltage and power supplyfrequebcy. (Either 120 V, 60 Hz or 220-240 V, 50/60 Hz depending onyour region.)• Do not connect to power outlets with other electrical devices. Also, whenconnecting via an extension cord, check the amperage rating.• Disassembling and/or reassembling the AC adapter is extremely dengerousand should not be attempted under any circumstances.• Do not place heavy objects on the AC adapter or power cord. Do not placethe adapter or cords in an area where they are likely to be stepped on.• Do not use the power cord while it is bundled.• Never pull directly on the power cord. To remove the plug from the outlet,grasp the plug directly and remove.• Keep the area around the power plug clear of articles so that the power plugcan be disconnected in an emergency.• Use only the AC adapter provided with the product. The scanner weighs approximately 3.9 lb (1.8 kg) alone, andapproximately 7.9 lb (3.6 kg) with the optional flatbed scanner unitinstalled.• Make sure that the flatbed scanner unit is correctly attached to theDR-2580C scanner before moving the scanner while the optional flatbedscanner unit is attached.• Make sure to disconnect the interface cable and power cord.
