Neverattempt to lift the scanner by yourself. You could drop the scanner or pinch yourfingers, resulting in personal injury or damage to the scanner. Remember to beextra careful when moving it.❏ When lifting up the scanner, make sure you do not grasp the knob on theDocument Feed Tray on the front of the scanner.After checking the package contents, you need to install the software.(☞ STEP 2)CAUTIONInstalling the SoftwareInstall the software before connecting the scanner to the computer.❏ Before installing the software, make sure your computer is correctly running one ofthe following versions of Windows. Log on to Windows with Administrator privileges.2. Insert the Setup Disc into the computer’sCD-ROM drive.The setup menu automatically starts upwhen you insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. If the setup menu does not startup, run the setup.exe application on theCD-ROM.When Installing in Windows VistaWhen using Windows Vista, the “UserAccount Control” dialog box may appear. Inthis case, enter your login user passwordfor Administrator privileges, and click [OK].3. The setup menu starts up.The setup menu consists of the following screens:4. Click [Typical Installation].[Typical Installation] installs the software(scanner driver, CapturePerfect 3.0) and theUser Manual. The CapturePerfect 3.0Operation Guide is installed on thecomputer during the CapturePerfect 3.0installation.5. Click [Install].The scanner driver installation wizardappears. This operation installs both thescanner driver and the Job Tool.6. Click [Next].7. Read the software license agreement, andclick [Yes] if you consent to its conditions.Installation of the scanner driver starts.8. Click [Finish] to complete the installation.Next, the installation wizard forCapturePerfect 3.0 appears.9. Click [Next].Typical InstallationMenu Screen* Installs all of the software displayed.Read Manuals* The User Manual and CapturePerfect 3.0Operation Guide electronic manuals forthe scanner are installed on the computerwith the rest of the software.Custom Installation* Installs only the selected software.IMPORTANT● The cleaning cloth is used for cleaning the scanner’s interior.● Items included in this package are subject to change without notice.● Keep the package and packing materials for storing or transporting the scanner.* The shape is slightly different on the DR-6050C.10. Read the software license agreement, andclick [Yes] if you consent to its conditions.11. Confirm the installation destination, andclick [Next].Installation of CapturePerfect 3.0 starts.12. Click [Finish] to complete the installation ofCapturePerfect 3.0.Next, the installation wizard for the UserManual appears.13. Click [Next].Installation of the User Manual starts.14. Click [Finish] to complete the installation ofthe User Manual.15. When all installations are complete, theinstallation completed screen appears.Click [Exit] to exit the installer. Click [Back]to return to the menu screen.This completes the software installation.Next, you need to connect the scanner to your computer. (☞ STEP 3)
