QT5-0003-V01Start HereEasy Setup Instructions1 Turn on the machine.1 Unlock the Scanning Unit.2 Connect the power cord, then press [ON/OFF].3 Use [ ] or [ ] on the Operation Panel to select the language for the LCD,then press [OK].The language setting is only available for some countries.4 If the message appears, go to Step2, “Install the Print Head.”2 Install the Print Head.1 Lift the Scanning Unit (Printer Cover) until it locks into place.2 Pull out the Paper Output Tray extension.3 Install the ink tanks.1 Prepare the ink tanks.2 Insert the ink tanks.3 Close the Inner Cover and the Scanning Unit (Printer Cover).4 Align the Print Head from the Operation Panel.This procedure is necessary to obtain a beautiful print result.The Print Head positions is automatically aligned.When the pattern shown on step 3-(3) is printed, the alignment is completed.Be sure to align the Print Head to ensure print quality.1 Open the Paper Support, then pull out the extension.2 Load a few sheets of letter- or A4-size blank paper into the Auto Sheet Feeder.3 Press [OK] to start Print Head alignment.• Print head alignment will take several minutes to complete. Do not start another operation here.• If the printed pattern matches the illustration, Print Head alignment is complete.You can change the language displayed on the LCD.For details, see “Selecting the Language for the LCD” in the Quick Start Guide.Hardware setup and Print Head alignment is complete.If you are connecting the machine to a computer for use, see the rear side of this sheet forinstructions on installing the software.Unpack the machinePlease confirm bundled thing by the illustration printed on the flapped lid of the packing box.3 Open the Inner Cover.IMPORTANT (US Only)Write down the serial number located insidethe machine. You will need this to registeryour products.4 Raise the lock lever.IMPORTANTIf the Scanning Unit (Printer Cover) is leftopen for more than 10 minutes, the Print HeadHolder moves to the right. Close and reopenthe Scanning Unit (Printer Cover) to returnthe Holder to the center.5 Prepare the Print Head.(1) Remove the print head from its package.CAUTIONThere might be some transparent or light blueink on the inside of the bag the print headcomes in - this has no effect on print quality. Becareful not to get ink on yourself whenhandling these items.(2) Remove the protective cap and discard it.CAUTIONThere might be some transparent or light blueink on the inside of the protective cap - this hasno effect on print quality. Be careful not to getink on yourself when handling these items.(1) Open the Document Cover.(2) Move the Scanner Lock Switch towardsthe release mark to unlock the ScanningUnit.CAUTION• Make sure to unlock the Scanning Unit beforeturning the machine on.• Before transporting the machine, always lockthe Scanning Unit by moving the ScannerLock Switch towards the lock mark. release mark(2) Connect the other endto the AC outlet.(1) Connect one end ofthe power cord to therear of the machine. (3) Open the Operation Panel.(4) Press [ON/OFF].(1) Press [ ] or [ ] toselect the language.(2) Press[OK].Lift the Scanning Unit(Printer Cover).IMPORTANTFor safety, always firmly grip the areas illustrated when opening the Scanning Unit (PrinterCover).If the PaperOutput Tray doesnot open, pressthe Open Button.When the machine isturned on, lift up theScanning Unit (PrinterCover) then wait for thePaper Output Tray toopen.Pull out the PaperOutput Tray extension.Inner CoverThe Print Head Holder moves to the center.Do not touch the Print Head Holder while it ismoving.Serial NumberLocationTouch only thelock lever!Raise lock levercompletely.Do not touch!Remove the protective cap and discard it.6 Insert the Print Head. 7 Lower the lock lever.Insert.Do not touch!Lower the locklever carefullyand press itdown.If the orange-colored protective film is notremoved completely, problems withprinting may occur.(2) Twist off and discardthe orange protectivecap located on thebottom of the inktank.Do not press!(1) Peel back the orangetab completely andremove the plasticwrapper from the inktank.IMPORTANTDo not touch theelectrical contacts.electrical contacts(1) Insert the ink tank into therightmost slot.ClickRefer to the color guide onthe print head lock lever.(2) Press the mark on the ink tank until it clicks into placeand then its lamp lights red.Close the Inner Cover. IMPORTANTFor safety, always firmly grip the areas illustrated whenclosing the Scanning Unit (Printer Cover).Click(1) Open the PaperSupport.
