Recording Audio74Recording AudioYou can record audio using the built-in stereo microphone*, commercially available microphones (XLR terminal*,MIC terminal) or line input (XLR terminal*). Using the XLR terminals, you can select the audio input independentlyfor channel 1 and channel 2.When the bit rate is set to [24 Mbps LPCM], you can enjoy two-channel linear PCM audio recording with asampling frequency of 48 kHz. LPCM audio playback is also available for clips recorded with that bit rate.* Only available when the handle unit is attached to the camcorder.Connecting an External Microphone or External Audio Input Source to the CamcorderIn order to use the microphone holder and XLR terminals, the handle unit must be attached to the camcorder.Follow the procedure below to attach a microphone (refer also to the following illustration). To connect anexternal device to the camcorder, plug the device’s cable into the camcorder’s XLR terminal ().1 Loosen the microphone lock screw (), open the microphone holder and insert the microphone ().2 Tighten the lock screw and put the microphone cable through the microphone cable clamp underthe microphone holder ().3 Plug the microphone cable into the desired XLR terminal () or the MIC terminal ().Using the Built-in Microphone or an External MicrophoneConnected to the MIC TerminalFollow the step below to use the built-in microphone or an external microphoneattached to the MIC terminal. Use commercially available condenser microphoneswith their own power supply and a ∅ 3.5 mm mini-stereo plug*. You can use themicrophone attenuator for either type of microphone.
