This difference inshifting is normal.Manual ModeDriver Shift Control (DSC)The vehicle has Driver ShiftControl (DSC). DSC controls thevehicle's transmission and vehiclespeed while driving down hill ortowing a trailer by allowing you toselect a desired range of gears.To use this feature, do the following:1. Move the shift lever to theM (Manual Mode).2. Press the plus/minus button, toupshift or downshift selecting thedesired range of gears forcurrent driving conditions.The DIC display will show themessage MANUAL SHIFT on thefirst line and the current gear will bedisplayed on the second line. Thenumber displayed in the DIC is thehighest gear that can be used.However, the vehicle canautomatically shift to lower gears asit adjusts to driving conditions. Thismeans that all gears below thatnumber are available. When 5 (Fifth)is selected, 1 (First) through 5 (Fifth)gears are automatically shifted bythe vehicle, but 6 (Sixth) cannot beused until the plus/minus buttonlocated on the steering column leveris used to change to the gear.Grade Braking is not available whenthe Driver Shift Control is active.See Tow/Haul Mode on page 9‑33for more information.While using the DSC, CruiseControl and the Tow/Haul Mode canbe used.Tow/Haul ModeThe vehicle has a Tow/Haul Mode.The Tow/Haul Mode adjusts thetransmission shift pattern to reduceshift cycling, providing increasedperformance, vehicle control, andtransmission cooling when drivingdown steep hills and mountaingrades, towing, or hauling heavyloads.Press the button located on the endof the shift lever to turn the tow/haulon or off.
