Section 1 — General InformationAir-cooled Generators5If during the installation of the home standby systemthe decision is made to provide back up power to abedroom branch circuit, then the circuit breaker inthe transfer switch should be replaced with an ArcFault Circuit Interrupter.It is most important that breakers only be switchedlike for like. For instance, if replacing a 15A breaker,it MUST be replaced with a 15A AFCI breaker.Likewise, a 20A breaker MUST be replaced with a20A AFCI.These AFCI breakers are available at the nearesthardware store.Siemens Item # DescriptionQ115AF 15A Single Pole AFCIQ120AF 20A Single Pole AFCI1.4 EMISSION INFORMATIONThe Environmental Protection Agency requires thatthis generator complies with exhaust emission stan-dards. This generator is certified to meet the appli-cable EPA emission levels. Additional informationregarding the requirements set by the EPA is as fol-lows:The generator is certified for use as a stationaryengine for standby power generation. Any other usemay be a violation of federal and/or local laws. It isimportant that to follow the maintenance specifica-tions in the "Maintenance" section to ensure that theengine complies with the applicable emission stan-dards for the duration of the engine’s life. This engineis certified to operate on Liquid Propane fuel andpipeline Natural Gas. The emission control systemon the generator consists of the following:Fuel Metering System•Carburetor/mixer assembly•Fuel regulator•Air Induction System•Intake pipe/manifold•Air cleaner•Ignition System•Spark plug•Ignition module•The Emissions Compliance Period referred to on theEmissions Compliance Label indicates the number ofoperating hours for which the engine has been shownto meet Federal emission requirements. See the tablebelow to determine the compliance period for thegenerator.
