-11-CHARGING BATTERY PACK (1 HOUR CHARGER)Plug charger cord into your standard poweroutlet. Before inserting battery pack, removeprotective cap, then insert battery pack intocharger (Fig. 10).The charger’s green indicator will begin to“BLINK”. This indicates that the battery isreceiving a fast charge. Fast-charging willautomatically stop when the battery pack isfully charged. When the indicator light stops “BLINKING”(and becomes a steady green light) fastcharging is complete. When you begin the charging process of thebattery pack, a steady green light could alsomean the battery pack is too hot or too cold. The purpose of the light is to indicate that thebattery pack is fast-charging. It does notindicate the exact point of full charge. Thelight will stop blinking in less time if thebattery pack was not completely discharged. When the battery pack is fully charged, unplug the charger (unless you're charginganother battery pack) and slip the batterypack back into the tool handle. To prevent fire or injury when batteries arenot in tool or charger, always placeprotective cap onto end of battery pack.IMPORTANT CHARGING NOTES1. The battery pack accepts only about 80%of its maximum capacity with its first fewcharge cycles. However, after the first fewcharge cycles, the battery will charge tofull capacity.2. The charger was designed to fast chargethe battery only when the batterytemperature is between 40˚F (4˚C) and105˚F (41˚C).3. A substantial drop in operating time percharge may mean that the battery pack isnearing the end of its life and should bereplaced.4. If you anticipate long periods (i.e. a monthor more) of non-use of your tool, it is bestto run your tool down until it is fullydischarged before storing your batterypack. After a long period of storage, thecapacity at first recharge will be lower.Normal capacity will be restored in two orthree charge/discharge cycles. Rememberto unplug charger during storage period.5. If battery does not charge properly:a. Check for voltage at outlet by pluggingin some other electrical device.b. Check to see if outlet is connected to alight switch which turns power “off”when lights are turned off.c. Check battery pack terminals for dirt.Clean with cotton swab and alcohol ifnecessary.d. If you still do not get proper charging, take or send tool, battery pack andcharger to your local Bosch ServiceCenter. See “Tools, Electric” in theYellow Pages for names and addresses.NOTE: Use of chargers or battery packs notsold by Bosch may void the warranty.INDICATORLIGHTCHARGERBATTERYPACKPROTECTIVECAPFIG. 10BM 2610917685 9-02 9/23/02 11:35 AM Page 11
